Obama is our President. Can he help our economy?

Many of you shared your views on what you felt Obama SHOULD do once he got into office. Well, he's our new president and he is now doing! What do you think of his performance in these first days in office?

I'm interested in your opinions. At my blog (www.genplususa.com), you'll see postings on the Microsoft layoffs, and this new concept of the "Bad Bank". Do you know anyone laid off at Microsoft?

Do you feel that Obama can turn the economic tide? And how is this all affecting you and your families?

I too feel it will be years until we see real improvement. It will be a rough ride for many people and it will come down to a daily struggle for survival. Our President, Congress and the business sector have to work together.

I think he is facing a virtually insurmountable task, as far as any kind of quick turn around. With what has been going on leading up to this point, there just is not any easy solution.

I think we are all faced with some time of difficult and hard times, with fewer options for jobs, and little hope for improvements. Obama has the advantage of being trained in economics, which should help, but the two party system makes for a guardsmen that he will meet with opposition at each step of the way.

Long run, I think he has good ideas, but the question is how many of them will he be allowed to put into action

I do not question his desire. But there is still the issue that he is one man, and the damages done by the previous administration is so far reaching, that he has a daunting task ahead of him.

I think that he will get the economy stabilized, but that it will take a long time. Anyone that thinks that there will be a sudden change is unrealistic.

A change like the one needed here, is a paradigm change, one that requires a total change for Corporate America. No longer can the corporations operate on the belief that IF they don't get caught, and IF they make a profit, it is ethical.

I have never been a believer in Government controls, however it appears that now they shall be very much required to guarantee no repeat of the AIG fiasco.

I believe that the middle class in America is an endangered species, and that it will take more than any one president's efforts to restore it.

Obama will help our economy, but it will take time, and it will take the efforts of all of us. AND, it will require a change in Congress, to an effort to move us forward, not just politics as usual.

I think Obama is our best HOPE for the economy improving. However, Bush left him a horrific legacy and will take a very long time to clean up Bush's mess. Also, it's a global depression as well.
I've said many times, that the stimulus money he's designated for jobs won't help a lot of us, me included, as it's like the old WPA program during the depression in the 1930s----repairing the countries infrastructures such as bridges and roads.
I left a job of 15 years as a State Eligibility Consultant in Indiana to move to Florida when I remarried my first husband. I mistakenly thought I could move right into a job in Florida doing the same thing. Wrong. I haven't found anything down here even though I'm registered at several Florida government websites.
