FEBRUARY 2009...
2009*4*17 1237 edt…. Mornin’ Bear
Well, here I sit waiting for the phone to ring… Trying to get some ‘homemaker’ (read work) done… Laundry! Running up and down the basement steps… (make that crawling!) Picking up after Viva! Sheesh… she grabbed my bright pink t-shirt and ‘killed’ it in the hall way. Lolol Trust me, she did a good job. Lololol Can I con anybody into taking this medium sized tornado? Any body?
Her is cute/true. Her is quiet and ladylike/ lie… Her has left the back wall alone/true, so far. Her doesn’t eat much/big lie. Her leaves paper trails that would even put our government to shame/true. But her will look at you with them big brown eyes, grin (yes, she grins) and then give you a big slurpy kiss… Heart melts/true. She feels safe once again and peace reigns supreme . BTW, the hall floor is in raking condition… again!
Any volunteers? Hmmm … I think I best not hold my breath while I wait for a response to THAT question… lolololol I really don’t look good in that shade of purplish-blue.
Let me see here… Went out to the mail box yesterday to spray the magic mix on the ants who had made the box their home… Surprise, surprise… Not ant one out there. Must ask the mail man if he sprayed anything in there… Box looked like it had been scoured. Not one ant! Not one! The day before it was covered on the inside… The most amazing things happen up here on the mountain… No explanations, no nothing!
While I was out there, I heard and saw several of my flyguys… Oh and did I get flashed or what! I got a long lasting red, white and blue lite flash… I cracked up. Whoever you are, sweetheart, thank you… ya made my day. Lolol Made me feel a lot better.
Guys, go do sumfin else for a minute or two… this is strictly for the ladies out there. Shoo! Scoot! Are they gone? All right! Ladies, listen up! Dem flyguys gots cute buns! Oh yeah… (Am I allowed to say that?) In fact, all mine have cute buns… Ladies, you can look but not touch! I get em first! Age must count for sumfin!
Ok guys .. Meems is gonna try to be politically correct now… or not. And that is a definite maybe!
To the USDA for a moment… Still amassing info and tips from various sources. Writing, writing and more writing…
Wish Eons would get the ‘thread’ problem straightened out…
Later all of mine… take care and go in safety always. Remember to keep your mail box ant free… them critters bite…

2009*4*18 1416 hrs … G’day, Bear….
I have no idea as to how I can get into so much trouble without leaving the house…(is going to the mail box considered leaving the house?)
I go to the mail box…I am dressed! Teeth in this time! Put my response to PCH contest in the box. (meems is gonna win a gazillion dollars contest) What else do I find in the mail box? License plate renewal/reminder… No complaints, at least they sent me one.
On way back down drive, I am dive bombed by some type of winged critter… Seriously…Oh dear, the Hummer family is back for the summer! Need to go get the feeder bottles out of storage, make sure they are clean and then fill them with the sugar mix.
Before I can get to the kitchen door though. I see my BBSBs up there playing in the sun. Not much air moving, so I couldn’t find/see them at first… Winds up here do strange things to the acoustics. You’d think you could hear them more easily if the winds are quiet. Tain’t so. Somehow, it’s easier for me to hear/spot them when the winds are a moving on.
I grabbed my coffee and cigs and sat in the shade on the side porch. Magnificent day! Air is dry (harder to see cone trails on dry day) Temp just right… lit ground level breeze.
74 degrees, count them…. 74 beautiful warm. lovely degrees!!!!
Anyway, I sat outside until the sun started coming over the yard arm…Had to come in .. another Ratz! But I fixed the Hummers a bottle of goodies. Took it out to the same spot as always. Got buzzed while I was doing that! Them lil critters are insistent at best, down right mean at worst. And trust me, They do let me know when their feeder is empty! Have you ever been chewed out by a humming bird? Have you ever had one come thru the door, perch on a light fixture, and then procede to chew you out? They fuss and, I do believe, they cuss… If you can go by the tone of their voices…
Another tip… don’t argue with the Hummer family… Ya ain’t gonna win… Ya might just as well get busy and try to keep them content.
To the house for a moment… I’ve asked questions and gotten diametrically opposed answers… Made phone calls… gotten phone calls. Taken notes.. Started folders…
How bout:
“Temporary subsidy” … This is the first time I’ve heard the word ‘temporary’ used.
If I accept this raise in house payments, (the cancellation of the subsidy) there will be no more increases from now on … This equals an increase of 4% to 5.625% interest…fixed rate. unless the taxes or insurance rates go up. Otherwise, I will face fighting this battle every two years.
I’ve asked for written verification on the ‘info’ “no increase”. Will make copies of everything and forward it to the Honorable Rogers in Congress.
My big question… If I am on a fixed income, where do they expect me to earn the extra to take care of the off-set? At 72 11/12s, it’s a little late for me to try and find a good paying job… And if I should be able to work, what other problems will cascade from working?
What really upsets me is the thought I am not the only one this happens to… Altho it is confusing and I don’t read well, I manage to gets my ducks lined up and fight the good fight. There are thousands of innocents out there who cannot. Men and women both who lose their only homes and have nowhere to go.
I’ve solved my problem basically. I’ll just give up the TV totally/cancel it. I refuse to give up the puter unless the critters are starting to go hungry.
Is this starting to sound like a soap opera? Sheesh! Government agencies have taken $100 away by the month… I think, might be more… Giving up TV will free up $80. A shortfall of $20 I think I can manage.
And how did I get into the mess to begin with? I trusted when I should not have. That’s another long story! Someday I’ll post photos of the last place I lived down here. You won’t want to believe it. I know, I know… I should write a book!
Back to the beauty of this day! Lilacs are very slow in opening… The honey bees are out playing with the hedge flowers. The hornets and wasps are busy homemaking. Found one wasp in the kitchen… almost put my hand on him. That’s the only time I ever get stung is when I don’t know they are there and put my hand on one.
I SAW A ROBIN TODAY…MY FIRST! Blue birds have their nest built on the lite pole. Butterflies are just so busy doing their thing and feeding… The nectar is really flowing on some of the plants.. The Quince out front is covered with bees and the Hummers are building their nests in it.
I saw a small flock of starlings too. Five or six maybe. I heard the one first. Male or female, I dunno. All I can tell you is that a starling has a call which sounds like a drop of water landing in a pool… A lovely and charming sound from such a pesky bird. Heard it the first time ever when I moved here to the mountain.
Later all of mine… go in safety always. Remember to tune out the sounds of civilization and just listen for the sounds of our mother Earth. That way lies peace.
