Oh Gee! Can you say: cold? … Miserably cold! Ungodly cold? Brrrr!
Get your buns in here and close the door behind you … in a hurry! Get over there by the electric logs… grab some coffee or tea…Warm up! Don’t know what you young’uns are doing out in this kind of weather. Nobody should have to go out in this kind of temp!
(Thank God, there are all the brave souls who will suffer the weather to help all of us!)
I guess I really made a splash yesterday when I wrote about the cover-alls and how cute I am in them… Got lots of helpful suggestions from my ‘friends’… lolol Oh yeah! (KK has mentioned my OMG! Factor!) lolol Can you believe that I still make her nervous after knowing her this long? According to her, she’s a little (read a lot) leery of what I might say or do! Lolol And rightfully so!
The Boss gotchad me again! Daggone him! He wrote an blog/article in CCC. Title is: Things That Go Bump In The Night! Good read and contains a little gallows humor! Well, I ventured a small lady like comment and he nailed me to the trophy wall! Gots the giggles! Lololol . Gots ta watch the Boss Man, him can be awful quick on the come back! That’s ok, tho… He knows I will get even…Again, just a matter of time! Lolol
Ok, now to yesterday afternoon! I had just finished washing my hair… Towel wrapped around head…I stood looking out the side door. Sun was out! Clear blue sky…a few white puffies AND a contrail!
Oh my gosh! One of mine! I could see him to the west of me!
Out I went… hair sopping wet… no coat… Ruh row! Would you believe it was really cold out there? Oh yeah! All of 8 degrees with a sharp wind blowing! I waved til he was out of sight! Ran back into the kitchen… took towel off and started combing the tangles out…I hear the drone of another BBSB! Out I go again! Comb in hand and still no coat!
Trust me, one cannot get a comb through frozen hair! I finally gave up on that idea! So there I stand with frozen, tangled hair… Waving for all I am worth! Lolol But I am starting to get cold…
Back into the kitchen! Grabbed a saddle blanket (same one ss before) wrapped up in it.. Back to the side porch! Waving mightily and throwing kisses! Blanket not heavy enuf to stop the breeze! I am now starting to get cold…
More BBSB’s coming over… Ran in and grabbed parka and hat… back out the door… I tried to stay sheltered from the wind by standing close to the house! That helped some but apparently not enuf. Fingers started stinging… nose was turning a lovely shade of blue!.
Well, I spent about an hour out side… waving and, I might add, getting flashed! I love getting flashed and crack up every time the guys do that! Lolol
Came back in the house to stay… Grabbed a mug of fresh coffee and headed back to the apartment. Just a chuckling to myself… happy that I had seen some of mine up there playing! (My fantasy that they are playing… air time is serious business)
That’s the fun part… the not so much fun? My legs were numb! Oh yeah! Had on paint sweat pants, which were not heavy enuf for the actual temps, let alone the wind chill! I know better but I did it anyway…
The 6 pack + 1 didn’t like the idea of being in the house while the emom was outside on the porch… In/out… out/in… Wonder if they were trying to tell me sumfin… Like get yourself back in the house, Mom; it’s cold out there!
Yes, it was cold but it did get a lot colder… Was a lovely, balmy, beach towel/bikini wear MINUS EIGHT degrees at 0700 hours this morning! Brrrr!
Let’s see… then there is the dead and now frozen raccoon outside….Short version:
Monday night… coon hunters… hound baying on hilltop across from front of house.
Tues. Raccoon comes wandering into yard trying to get home?!? Dogs attack and some are bitten…I get dogs away from critter.. At least three bitten… Critter dies (maybe adrenalin shock)… I go out and double bag!
Wed. I call game warder… no help there… Call my veterinarian… “Call health dept.”
Thurs. Call Health Dept… Environmentalist is in… put on hold… called back… gone for the day!
Fri. Call Health Dept. .. Env. Not in yet… leave message.. Rec’ve call from Env for the county. Will be out this coming Tues to pick up critter…Late Tuesday! I am hoping the weather stays cold enuf to keep it frozen…
This has not been a good week for critters… I have also bitten my tongue and sat on my hands… Cause I sure do have an opinion on this situation… Ah, me!
And here you go! The one! The only! Spudley! Holding down the covers on the bed. Making sure they, the covers, don’t get away! Lololol
And I was afraid I might be bored out here in the middle of nowhere! Right!

OK! I want to know what goes on around here at nite when I am sleeping! Somebody must be throwing a party or sumfin.
When I got up a bit ago, I had 3, count them, 3 coffee mugs in here! None of which was my favorite! All half full of cold to icy coffee! I really do know how they got back here. They had too much to drink and forgot their way to the kitchen! Lololol
Heard a droning sound coming in from the east… Thought it might be one of my BBSBs flying over… Well, Ratz! Too cloudy to see anything… Icy diamonds floating in the air…was –6 when I first got up! Brrrr rating has gone up or down depending on how you look at it! Lolol
Well anyway, while I was staring out the window, I saw Newbie’s head come up into the alert position… Now what… I looked the direction he was looking…
Now what?!? Nuffin! Then I saw the problem approaching from the North and cracked up!
Uh oh! The Spudley is just a flying … ears flapping in the breeze.. Grinning for all he’s worth… Here comes China! Big Red Dog is hot on his tail assembly. The rest of the brats are staying out of the line of fire! lololol
What the heck is that hanging out of his mouth? Blue and white? Speckled? Oh dear! My new work gloves! I haven’t even had them on yet and I did put them up high!

Well, RATZ! I did it again! Dogs alarm barking at side door! Open door.. Dogs go roaring out and down the ramp... I follow a bit behind them! Yes! I am in the old RED ROBE... and YES! My hair looks like a mare's nest! Oh dear, no teeth in... (am I allowed to tell this?)
It was the new neigbor... he had been cleaning and picking up and and...He was in the pickup...I waved... he backed up the truck... Oh dear... He stops at the end of the drive... I walk up the slope towards the end of the drive... we yell back and forth at each other... He drives on and I trudge back up the ramp to the house.
I hear one of my flyguys up there behind the clouds...I know he can see me! He was right above the house! I can't see him, of course, because the cloud deck was near the tree tops again... Sheesh!
I guess my reputation for being the SSMSS is ruined forever! (Sunny Side of the Mountain Sex Symbol) lolol Now, THAT is a funny idea! lolol
A small heads up here! If you are EVER out this way...spot a silver haired lil ol lady dressed in red...do an immediate about face! This about face thing is a safety warning! And Lordy pete, don't ever get in the line of fire! This lil ol lady does pack a gun! Oh yeah!
I came back in the house... threw on some clothes.. Heard another of my BBSBs out there... Waved and threw more kisses and hugs...
Oh dear… I forgot to switch to Word for the News… well, blog section on Eons was dancing all over the place with each key stroke! Now what!?! I did manage to save what I have already written…
One thing I will not forget… an occurrence/event in one group to which I belong… A good man left the group because a few attacked him personally instead of directing their angry remarks to the subject at hand. This, for the good man, was all he could take. He too suffers the pain of PTSD. I am so ashamed of the few… just the few, who did not consider the person. Enuf said!
A heads up to the ladies… We have a troll on Eons again… a “More Better” type looking for a victim! This guy is 44 and wants to meet a 72 year old woman… for …. Lolol Just a warning to be careful… these trolls send out form letters… Never EVER respond to the messages… I haven’t blocked him yet but Eons has been advised!
And HERE”S LILY! Lolol We call her the ‘Horlette’ because she will flop on her back for anybody as long as they scratch her belly… Here, she is doing guard duty for the old rocker!
I know, she looks like an unmade bed… but that and her grumpy vocabulary are a part of her charm… (I do make things up as I go) lololol
Well, kids… I am outa here for the time being… It is spitting snow and temp is dropping again… Wowser! I just looked at the barometer.. It is dropping rapidly too. Stay warm everybody… this too shall pass… or not! Lolol

Been an interesting two days! Sure have! Y’all get in here… Get warmed up… Wowser, it’s too cold out there for this old body to stay out for any length of time! A minus 2 degrees… thank you very much! Slight breeze…
Saw a contrail out there this morning… Jumped out the door…(more like hobbled) and started waving like I had some sense (wrong)…and bout froze…Sorry, my BBSBs, a minus 2 is just a little more than I can handle right now…The air is so dry that the contrails were very short lived up there… I waved at my flyguys and then hustled my buns back into house!
Oh, I am so glad this last week is over!
I have GOOD news! Oh yeah! I won my bet… our local “environmentalist”, who was supposed to be out to pick up the dead raccoon, did not go to work… A really nice young man (environmentalist) from a nearby county called me yesterday morning. Showed up when he said he would… This guy had a long drive to get to my place…
The locals say I live at the end of the world. LOLOL Not quite but very close.
Anyway… When I told him the incident occurred a week ago yesterday, he looked shocked. The critter SHOULD have been picked up last Thursday…..
Well, that was taken care of… then I had to wait for Joey, the Vet! Yes kids, here in the mountains, the vet will make house/farm calls…
Joey arrived… I had everything set up… dogs were safely penned on the back porch…I would let one dog in… Joey would give them their shots… I’d throw that dog out the side door.. Bring the next one in! Can you say: assembly line? Lololol
I was so glad that Joey knew his numbers… He managed to keep track of the numbers while I was busy wrassling dogs around the kitchen…I just wish I’d a thot to have somebody here with a movie cam… lololol
The only one of the 6 pack + 1 that I worried about was the Spudley! Joey confirmed my belief that the Spud was part pit bull… I plopped my buns on the floor…scratched his ears (Spud’s, not Joey’s) … Joey gave him his shots… Out the door Spud’s went.
Then there was the Lilyputzer! Oh man! She caught me with a dew claw and raked my right forearm… can you say: ouchie! Still smarts this morning… Got finished with her and out the door she went! Lolol

Joey and I sat at the table exhausted by that routine… had a cup of coffee, ran our mouths for a while… and he left….I went to bed early! I was flat killed!
The very good news is the dogs are showing no signs of rabies… and the Newbie doesn’t have hip dysplasia! Seems like his near hind knee has been hit/injured a while back… It will become arthritic and go thru phases of better / worse.
It’s finally starting to warm up some out there… Need to gather the makings of another broom… One of mine is in need of the threat! Need to find another broom handle too while I am out there… If you remember, Max ate the last one! Speaking of the Max… check this cute lil feller out…Doesn’t he look innocent? Well, he ain’t! He is rotten to the core… A mini-Newbie on the hoof! Lolol

Joey and I sat at the table exhausted by that routine… had a cup of coffee, ran our mouths for a while… and he left….I went to bed early! I was flat killed!
The very good news is the dogs are showing no signs of rabies… and the Newbie doesn’t have hip dysplasia! Seems like his near hind knee has been hit/injured a while back… It will become arthritic and go thru phases of better / worse.
It’s finally starting to warm up some out there… Need to gather the makings of another broom… One of mine is in need of the threat! Need to find another broom handle too while I am out there… If you remember, Max ate the last one! Speaking of the Max… check this cute lil feller out…Doesn’t he look innocent? Well, he ain’t! Mornin’ everybody! Welcome home Dear hearts… welcome home! Get your buns in here and set a spell! Y’all know where everything is so help yourselves…HandsofHope sent me a beautiful warm fire… getting cozy warm in here now.
Gonna be a purty day…I see my flyguys up there… conditions just right for some of the contrails to show. Oh, how I would love to see my world from up there just one time… Or from space… OMG! Just to be able to see… A poet should be sent up… an artist… Wonder if anyone could capture the glory of our sunlit world in words or paints… I must ponder more on this thought… I think the emotions would be overwhelming… How to translate those feelings… Is it at all possible?

Gonna be another beautiful day, weather-wise… Puter-wise, I ain’t too sure about! Sheesh… I spend more time trying to get back to where I was than I do writing! (Did that make sense?) I don’t even want to talk about last nite! I went to bed early!
Got tickled first thing this AM… New neighbors brought their second dog out with them last nite.. I opened the door to let the rest of mine out…LOLOL Max (the diplomat) was up at their place playing/teaching doggy gotcha to the newcomer… Max was it! I cracked up… Betcha the Max will sleep tonite! Heidi and her pal are chasing the Max all over the place… I can hear the play barks… lolol
I watch real cop shows all the time… kind of like listening to a scanner/background noises… Well, right at this moment I am watching a California Officer (Chinese, by birth) speaking Spanish/Mexican to a dui subject. He then switches to English. The officer’s English usage and grammar is perfect! A heck of a lot better than mine! And it just cracks me up! What is it about this that strikes me funny?… I really don’t know! Except maybe the switch from language to language so easily is so unexpected. I know how hard it is for me to communicate in one language, let alone two or more! Lolol
I’ll tell you a secret… sometimes I have to go through the whole list of the names of the 6 pack plus 1… especially if I am gonna scold somebody. Nothing to do with age.. Always have had that problem… It was really interesting when the kids were home…lolol “Bobbi… ah Shell… Glen.. Phil… ah, Smokey… Buns… Pedro.. Mac… er… well, by the time I had gotten through all those names, I had already forgotten who and why I was yelling… the brats love it! Thank goodness, I didn’t give names to all the tropical fish! Lolol
Just came back in the house… still watching the dogs play.. and it is way too purty to stay in! The sun is out… the wind is blowing… sky is mostly clear. And I saw a couple of my flyguys up there…
The contrails are kinda’ iffy today again… Have high wispy mare’s tails just a travelin’.. Not much moisture in the air. If I can’t see the contrails, it’s kinda’ hard for me to see and follow them BBSBs. If they get in my blind spot, I lose sight of them and can’t always find them again… Tiny lil things up there…But I stood in the drive-way for a while and just looked…
I love to stand in the wind and let it blow thru my hair… Can you say: another mare’s nest? Lolol Tangles or not, the wind gives me such pleasure…
Heard and saw the red-tail … she must be hunting…Caught a look at my very own house wren on the back porch… The wren has a nest in the cupboard out there… Last spring she raised 3 or 4 little ones in the cupboard and I was lucky enuf to see them take their maiden flights… Dem is sooooo cute… Big aw factor! I hope she raises another bunch this year cause she is a typical Mom! Lolol Just fusses at the young’uns almost non-stop! I get so tickled… Been there done that! A lot! Lolol
Well, kids, I need to get busy… Gathered the makings for a couple of brooms yesterday afternoon… Will try and get them put together today… Need to dry for a couple of days before I can send them out…
Then there’s a small painting needs to be boxed up and shipped… Need to finish the trim on a frame… and then put the painting in frame… And finally, need to work on the panda in the santa hat… That should keep me busy for at least 10 minutes! (I wish!) Then, there is a panel with Anna’s name on it. A painting of the farm… just a waitin’ to be started!

Sorry if there is any confusion here. I have been thinking about updating Emom's banner every since the sweeping changes at EONS. Thought I could replace the banner on the fly and leave all of the previous posts intact. Nope, couldn't do it. So I have archived Emom's previous news in our menu and created this new post thread. I copied and pasted the last few days of posts to bring everyone up to date.

Gonna use the nasty word… MISERABLE ! It’s gray, uniform gray and right at freezing… Right now, the mountain weather is fighting itself! The Boss said the high for today in Iowa is going to be in the minus figures. I am downrange from him and LJ but that cold will get here eventually. Yesterday, it was absolutely gorgeous! 68° and I did get outside for a while! I guess I should be thankful the sun shows itself once a week or so.
Saw a couple of my flyguys up there… Got flashed..! Oh yeah!… Made my day! Ain’t everybody who can says she gets flashed by the guys in them big beautiful silver birds! (BBSBs) I get so tickled.
And somehow, I managed to get my emails totally screwed up last nite! (for me it’s no problem at all to screw up the puter) I was ready to pound the monitor to a pulp with a large brick… I complained to the Boss about my problem.
Did I get any sympathy? I don’t think so. The Garymeister told me to count to 10… that he would wait! Hmmmm… I think that was a gotcha, Boss! Sheesh… I even had to ask if I could take my shoes off… Was gonna take a while to count that high! He’s a brat!
But the Boss does help me a lot when it comes to puter stuff… He made new banner for me in CCC… Well, that’s all the nice I have for him today! Lolol
Marv has been up to no good lately too! Not that he’s done anything overt… I just know he is peeking over my shoulder, watching carefully, waiting for me to screw up and do something. He takes great pleasure in nailing me when I do. Lolol Both he and the KK are always out there ready to take a hand in the mayhem that follows.. Pick on this poor little sweet natured ol’ lady… grumble … mumble… lolol If you believe that nonsense, I have several bridges and a ton of gold bricks for sale…(is this advertising?) lololol
Running late again… Anna called me and rolled me out at 1000est.. She loves it when she calls and I am still in bed… I never hear the end of it… lolol This is Saturday, right? I should be able to sleep late… Hung up with Anna. Then Becky calls… Sheesh! Anybody else?….lolol
Gonna get scooting… still need to work on the panda and the hat… and the chickyducks are waiting to be fed and watered… See if I can slide down the frozen grass to the pen.
One of the Silky Roosters has feathers all the way down to feet… also has extra toes. Unfeathered, a very primitive looking critter… Puts me in mind of the velociraptors in Jurassic Park…

Gee whiz! My flyguys are up there playing already… lolol The contrails are really standing out against the clear blue! Them rotten kids must get up before breakfast! I would too if I were going to go up there to play! Oh yeah!
The sun’s not up over the mountain yet and it is a chilly, frosty 8 degs out there. Looks like it’s gonna be a purty day though.
Puter was giving me fits again last nite! I don’t know if I will ever get this mess straightened out… lolol I think I have the emails straightened out … sort a… or not! LOLOL If it ain’t one thing it’s another!
I had to laff yesterday… lolol LittleEva was complaining in her gentle manner about babysitting with her son’s baby boa constrictor! I’ve had two boas and Glen had a ball python…I guess having snakes is an acquired taste… I just wanted to overcome my fear of snakes…

Here is a pic of a Cow/ black snake that I tripped over; it was curled up in my bedroom door way… Poor thing was dead… one of the dogs must have brought it in and buried it in a throw rug..lolol I know… Don’t run screaming just yet… Poor critter all 5 feet of him/her was dead… neck broken. (The ruler is a 48 incher and the boards are 6 inches wide)
I have two of these critters living under the boulders at the waterfall end of the pond. I’ve watched them hunting for frogs… very efficient they are! Cow/black snakes also take care of mice and other types of snakes…Good to have them around…
Well, the sun is still hiding behind the mountain…and I am gonna head back to the covers… I rolled out way too early for this old bod… lolol
