Waiting on the World to Change

A beautiful song from the youth of today. My thoughts about this inside as a reply. ~gJ

Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door

And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want

That's why we're waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

It's not that we don't care,
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

These words and this song reminds me of my youth when every issue was black or white, right or wrong and easy to decide. As we grew older and absorbed more input from the world many of us found that the answers are not so simple anymore, they became complicated. Is this good or bad, what do you think? It is good to keep an ear open to our youth but remember that these are the same creatures that could not see why staying out all prom night could be bad. So just like then, we listen, we nod and then we make a decision based on experience and wisdom. I am afraid the politics of this country has turned to an adolescent tone. As an example, the knee jerk reaction to pull the war prisoners out of Gitmo. In our adolescent eyes this is a clear black and white issue. In our wise and aged eyes this may be bad for the country. If any American is killed in the future by any of these released war prisoners then I feel sorry for whoever signs the release form. For seven and one half years we have not been attacked since 9/11. That speaks volumes! ~gJ
