Times they are a changin'

Hello everyone,

I'm 62 years old, looking for a job in a crowded market, but keeping at it. I'm a writer and marketing professional living in Denver, Colorado. There are hordes of people in every age group looking for work here.

One thing I tried recently was contacting a professional association in an industry that I might be interested in. This was the Society for Technical Communication as I am considering a switch to tech writing or instructional design. I had 3 people from the group contact me with information. I also attended their monthly meeting last week and really enjoyed the people and program. Don't know if I'll go in that direction but at least I've got more input.

I'm actively looking for contract work, as this has been a path to full time employment in the past. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm also a member of the Eons Hiking, Mac Pack, and Cooking groups.

Hi. Some readers have been telling me that they are seeing a resurgence of activity in their local Chamber of Commerce groups. If there is a vibrant group in Denver (even if it isn't in your specific city) it may be worth it to network there...especially for contract work.
