It's not a very active group I'm afraid. There are so many different games, that it's rare group members have any of them in common. I always enjoy reading reviews of games I'm not playing though, so please feel free to tell us about any games you're currently enjoying.

well, one game I would like to enjoy is the new Tomb Raider Underworld, that was recently released by Eidos. I have successfully played all of the other seven tomb raider games and then along comes this one. I get it and load it on my new computer. And guess what??? It plays in slow motion, I check out with other players and find that my "new" computer (only a month old) does not run fast enough. Someone suggested that I get a new gaming computer so I can play the game and I told them where to go....

Why can game creators just make games that people with regular computers can play????? Stupid if you ask me.....

I have run into similar problems myself. For example, Mass Effect was released by Bioware with a lot of fanfare not to long ago. Trouble is, it does not work on most computers, unless you have the latest and greatest video card and drivers. Guess what? I don't have the latest and greatest, so it does not even start on my computer. And I am not about to buy a new rig just to play one game.

I think software released by some companies just does not match the requirements of hardware that most people have. However, I have found some companies are more inclined to release software that works on most hardware. For example, Blizzard tends to release games that have low hardware requirements.

Where does this leave the consumer? I look very carefully at the hardware requirements and only buy games that have very low requirements, even lower than my own computer. Even then, there are no guarantees. I think you have to be flexible enough to try many different games until you find ones that work and that you enjoy.

I remember being disappointed by Tomb Raider myself when I bought a used version that did not work on my computer at the time. I could not imagine why a very old version would not work on my very old computer. Without getting into the technical details, I concluded that computer just did not have the right hardware.
