The Studio Break Room

Every working studio has some alloted time for taking a break from the work at hand. So, this is our "break room" - an open thread with no particular subject - just whatever is on your mind at the moment. Post about anything and everything (allowed by the Eon's TOU's, of course). You can wax poetic or brag on your GK's. Ask a philosophical question or discuss your favorite vacation spot. Share your interests and hobbies or comment on someone else's. Share a special video, picture or whatever. Be silly or serious - or a bit of both. Visit with your friends and make new ones This is your "break time", so Have Fun!

I can't take credit for this idea (came from the M&M group), but it sounded like a good way for all of us to get to know each other a little bit.

When trying to decide on a name to call the thread, I thought of a true story told to by a fellow elementary teacher. When we moved to this area and I started at a new school, there were little plaques above the various rooms - "office", "janitor's room", "book room" and the teacher's workroom/break room had the title, "teacher's lounge", which wasn't unusual at that time. However, it seems that as one group of kiddoes was heading down the hall towards the lunch room one day, one of the students asked another, "What's a teacher's lounge?" Without missing a beat and with all sincerity, the other little darling said, "That's where the teachers go to drink their beer."

I get a chuckle everytime I think of that story.

Did you know there was an eons.com before there was our eons.com? Check out this link and type www.eons.com in the seach box. Then click the "Take Me Back" button. view link www.archive.org/index.php You can find the first eons.com and browse through what was located there. You can also find out what the Eons we know today looked like when it first started and see how it has changed over the months since it began - well, up to February 13, 2008, that is. You can put any URL in the box and see if they have some web pages archived for that site.

The Internet Archive was founded in 1996 to "build an Internet library" of "historical collections that exist in digital format." It has expanded and now also "includes texts, audio, moving images, and software as well as archived web pages. "

Of course, the further back in time you go, the less likely it is that the links on the pages will work - but you might be pleasantly surprised. I've had some fun looking and thought you might also!

One group that I'm in that is less than a month old has an "open" thread where we've posted about all kinds of things. Kind of like sitting around Grandma's kitchen table talking about now and then and hopes. The weather. Just getting to know each other better. It's great and is well over 1000 posts already.

We need a Dr Pepper machine, too, though. And I think we need to update the decor a bit. Need new tables and chairs. And can we get some new tile for the floor?
