Would Love to Get to Know You

Hi Everyone!

Just registered for Rally 2009! This will be the second Rally we have attended. We went to the Rally in Redding, Oregon in 2007 and had a wonderful time. We are expecting to have a similar experience this year.

We will be leaving for our annual winter trip to Texas from Illinois towards the end of January. After visiting family on the eastern Texas border we will head to our favorite campground ("Parkview" on the Rio Frio) in the Texas Hill Country, We'll most likely spend a few weeks there before heading to the Big Bend area for a week or so. We hope to continue on into New Mexico (a new adventure for us) to make a leisurely trip to the Rally during April. Following the Rally we hope to head up into Colorado and visit family in the Denver area before our trip home. We normally arrive back in Illinois by the middle of April; but this year it won't be until very late April or early May. We don't usually make any advanced reservations as we love the freedom of making decisions in route as the day or mood sways us. A vague outline is all we need to stimulate us to hit the road, whether it be for a long weekend, a few weeks or for the season.

I would love to hear of your RV travel plans this year and the trip you will be making to Rally 2009.

Hi, Kathy,
I love your approach to traveling. In fact, it is the same approach we used for our travels down the Pacific coast this fall. We started on the south coast of the Olympic Pennisula of Washington State and spent three months enjoying great beaches, blue skies, redwoods and all things beachy!
We are looking forward to the rally and plan to travel to New Orleans and Mardi Gras before.
See you in Albequerque.

Hello Ladies.... & Gentleman,
I bought a C class RV last year and plan to strike out on some adventures. My question is do you see many single women traveling alone? Well, I will have my dog and cat. I am just wanting to know if other women dare to travel alone and if it is safe?
I want to attend the rally to learn more about RVing and what is available for my rig. I plan to be a go where the wind blows type of RVer. If I encounter a fascinating area I will spend a little extra time and if nothing presents itself then I'll move on to the next location.
Any sound advice to the lonely traveler?

Hi Nancy!

I was so glad to read your message. Your three month trip down the West Coast sounds wonderful! I would love to hear more about it and other trips you have taken. It's so helpful to get recommendations of wonderful places to see and good places to camp by other peoples' experiences.

After the Redding, Oregon Rally07, we packed up and immediately headed to Berkeley, California. It had been our plans that before returning home we would meet my Aunt, who lives in Berkeley, at her dear friends cottage on the north California Coast. But, while we were at the Rally, my Aunt was hospitalized. Our plans for meeting her at the coast changed and we headed directly to Berkeley. She was newly home from the hospital by the time we got there, but we wanted to be sure she was doing okay, recovering well, and have our visit with her before heading any place else. When we were satisfied she was okay, we decided to head north from the San Francisco Bay area via the coast before returning to the Midwest. As you so well can understand, we experienced a beautiful trip up the coast! We started out with the hope of making it to the Olympic Peninsula, Washington before returning home. One morning we woke up, realized the amount of time we had already been away from home, realized we were only halfway up the Oregon coast and would need another month (or so) to make it all the way to the top of Washington and home again. (At least, at the relaxed pace we enjoy.) So, plans changed and eastward we headed the very next day. Of course, our trip through Oregon was spectacular and we enjoyed every part of our trip back to Illinois. We promised ourselves that our next trip to the West Coast, will be by way of the northern states. And, once to the West Coast we'll start as you did from the Olympic Peninsula, Washington heading south along the Coast to Southern California. At least, those are our plans right now. lol

We sure are looking forward to Albequerque this April.
