No Political Zone Reminder

For our newbies, and our old-bies as well, just a quick reminder to read the two Sticky posts with regards to our focus and posting guidelines.

This is a No Politics Zone - by that I mean no partisan politics. Please control your urge to share your thoughts with this group about the current administration, the upcoming administration, the two major parties, and all politicos, with this group.

Since it's arule, I have no philosophical objection to the no politics rule. Functionally the rule is as obolete as a dinosaur. As soon as one enters the dialog on topics such as, "Is there a God?" the political cat is out of the bag.

Since I'm new here and have a track record espousing what most with political orientation - either way - would classify as extreme, and a history of polite discourse and conversational intercourse - I'll ask, Why not require polite and literate? After all, the site is moderated.

Just a thought, since the intent is out the door as soon as the topic is out of the interloqutors ISP and on the site.

One mans "polite and literate" is another "attack and pillage". As a legitimate deep thought, the "is there a God" debate is isolated in a post referred to as "The Quagmire". The "Quag" is a no-holds-barred and gloves-off discussion of God. The rules keep such discussions from spilling over into and dominating other posts. Politics threaten to boil over too. There are numerous political debates elsewhere online which more often than not result in hostile, abusive, and worthless diatribes. Deep Thinkers is a haven from sunken and otherwise shipwrecked thinking.

Rules on DT are enforced without mercy or appeal (the whip), and it seems to work pretty well.

I don't understand the notion that if you talk about the existence of a God you get into politics. Call me strange, but I don't think God lives in either a red state or a blue state, and I'm fairly certain God isn't registered to vote.....Half-Light

He's not, but Jesus is a Democrat. Sorry, Marti...I couldn't resist.

You're correct Halflight; you don't understand. Read it again. The problem with the political debates is described as being similar to the God debates. Those issues are easily kicked around elsewhere on Eons.
