Do they frown on people missing work where you work? Do they have time they can legally take off? Or do they have to worry about losing their job if they take off being sick?
Of course any job frowns on someone being out. But they have sick days they can take, and I would rather them stay away than get the entire office sick. I can't FORCE someone to stay home if they are sick. Now I'm sick. Not funny.
never meant to to be funny, was just asking a question. Sorry. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Pt, I didn't take it that way. I'm just griping! ;-)
Good questions Pt, some jobs are just not set up for taking off every time you don't feel well. You just have to suck it up.
Some (sick) people never think about taking precautions to keep from spreading germs. Will sneeze into their hands and then use hands on door knobs, spreading germs to infect the next person. Some fail to use kleenex or such to prevent the spread of germs broadcast when they sneeze or cough. Some cannot afford to take off work because of being sick. Maybe they can and maybe they can't but they can take care to keep what they have to themselves. Hubby has been sick for the last week with something he contracted in the work place, no work for him. He plans to go back to work tomorrow.
I bought 4 of those big clorox wipes containers and had everyone wiping down everything. My office smells the cleanest it has ever smelled! LOL. You are right, tabitha, kleenex and courtesy can go a long way in preventing the spread of germs. I think I got my point across to this person when I came in with the clorox wipes. I wiped down keyboards, phones, etc. I was being so careful, but still got sick. How many days is a cold contagious?
Many employers frown on sick time because it cuts down on their production, and your time is their money. Or they think they're swell when they provide three or four sick days a year. Unpaid, of course. So people will go to work sick, in order to avoid losing any of their meager check. If that upsets you, you should gripe at the employer who allows people to show up sick and endanger everyone else. Not the poor sickie who has to come to work half dead.

I'm not working anymore, my hubby retired a few months ago. But having worked for the State of Indiana, I know how they can baby coddle their chosen employees.
Then there's the people who say "I've never taken a sick day in 5 yrs. ACHOOOO!!!! Yeah, thanks. I handed her 2 advil, my kleenex box and said "please go home, I'd like to not have to use mine either". Her face looked like a light bulb went on. Really, was she that dense? Musta been. I had 3 colds and a couple flu's I named after her over the years.
