Trip to Urgent Care w/out Insurance

I suffer from chronic migraine. But a few nights ago was bad, really, really bad. The pain level was up so bad by morning.
And all night I had chest pains. So my pain level went down to tolerable as far as migraine. But the chest pains continued. By the afternoon, I decided I had to go to Urgent Care. It wasn't an option not that long ago, pay up or have insurance. I guess they've had so many go to the er that they needed to start to take some of the load.
The nurse and dr were very good. He ordered an ekg and a chest xray. He felt it was a muscle spasm headache, that he had experienced both migraine and this kind of headache. That it could actually be worse.
I checked out and was handed a bill for over $300.00. Oh, Yay! Glad they take payments. Some how, it didn't make my chest pains better. In act, I still have them and it's 2 days later.

$300.00 Thats how much it cost me to buy about 5 migraine tablets. I am a chronic migraine sufferer too. I could use up those in a month..if I could afford it. At $30 a pill, I buy one at a time and cut them in half. What on God's earth justifies that cost for a pill? I have never had chest pains with them though.

I remember getting various migraine meds and how I would wait to see if the pain was really that bad to use them. Now, nothing works, so I crawl under covers and hope. I cannot stand dealing with the er. Urgent care usually is more understanding, or at least try to be.
Sorry to hear you suffer too. It makes life so hard.
