Looking For New Writers

Hi, I'm the editor of Gold Country Families E-Magazine, a five-year-old free online family-friendly monthly US (predominately west coast) travel, dining, entertainment, and leisure magazine. We are always looking for new developing and seasoned writers.

Gold Country Families E-Magazine encourages, supports, and wishes to help advance all new freelance writers by offering them an avenue to begin and/or continue honing their writing skills and develop their writing styles. From the beginning, Gold Country Families E-Magazine has always offered budding/emerging freelance writers the opportunity to become published and have published clips available to advance their writing interests. For professionals we offer additional exposure and an outlet for revitalizing reprints.

The magazine is 100% Freelance written; Publishes on avg. 60 non-fiction manuscripts a year. Responds within 30 days to queries; We're not huge (yet) with a circulation of 7000 average page views monthly. Article Length: 500 to 2,000 words. Uses relevant sidebar information. Quality photos complimenting article highly recommended. Query by e-mail only at: writer-queries@goldcountryfamilies.com. No unsolicited manuscripts. Simultaneous submissions accepted. Previously published (reprint) manuscripts accepted with history. Submission guidelines: On website. Offers by-lines, author bios, and twelve month’s writer exposure in lieu of payment; does not reimburse writer expenses. Will assist writers negotiating barter comps. No-kill fees. All writers upon submission give Gold Country Families E-Magazine 30-days electronic rights to publish, promote, and profit from their writings. All rights revert back to writer after 30 days with the understanding that the manuscript(s) remain visible on the website for at least 12 months or longer. Writer’s supporting the magazine at this time will be given first opportunities for paid work in the future.

We’re also looking for short-short humorous, bizarre, exciting, unique, or emotional, travel snippets of one to three paragraphs long for the Reader’s Stories section. Suggested style format: intro, development, funny/emotional/surprise/punch line ending, and signed with a clever signature line (check website for sampling). No by-lines in this section.

We hope you’ll investigate this opportunity and look forward to hearing from future travel writers.
