He is the man to get the job done...I think he will.
They will be able to get parts for their antique cars...and maybe a new appreciation for us...I hope.

Trade had more of an impact in the former Soviet block countries as the people saw the prosperity under a free government. And look at the changes that have taken place in China, even though that country has miles to go with respect to freedom of expression and beliefs. The embargo against Cuba has been a failure for decades and should have been lifted long ago.
I think that might be a second term goal. For now it's the economy and jobs. That in itself is going to take 2 or 3 years.
I personally think that to show the world what he stands for, first thing is to close down Gitmo IMHO. What an impact that would have.
I agree closing Gitmo would be a great signal. But I think the best he can do is announce he intends to close it within 6 months as he does have to figure what to do with the people there who no one wants to take and the Terrorist who no US prison wants to house (for reasons I can't figure out). I am betting on his making an announcement within a week of his taking office.
As long as the trade goes in two directions, including jobs.
MY GAWD....lifting the embargo might be the very thing to save the American auto industry
What are talking about...sending them our gas guzzling SUV's?

Not not send them our SUV's...but most of their cars are so old they run on duct tape and wire and we could sell them new cars....sure as hell not selling them here...
