Making a Transparent Banner Online
Steps to make a transparent banner that contains text. Use the basic
steps outlined in the translucent image online file.
Differences:
At the Gradient Image tool site: Make the image 974 x 100 for a profile banner, 610 X 100 for a group banner, or whatever size you need for your website banner.
At FotoFlexer:
For some reason, it has worked best for me to go straight to fotoflexer instead of going through photobucket. However, Fotoflexer opens with a 640 limit on length (the size generally needed for a message post.) So after I upload the image once, I click on "resize" and change the "Preset Sizes" to "17 in screen (1024 X 768).
It doesn't change to this new size automatically, so I click on "Upload another Image" and reload the same 974 X 100 png. Then I delete one and then "pull" the other image to the right size.
Next, Click on "layers" then "Opacity" and set it all the way to 0% to make this image transparent. It seems to disappear, but you can click in the general area of where it was and then it will outline the transparent image while it is selected.
Next, Click on "Decorate" and then "Text". Type in your text and make your choices. Be sure to click to have the text background transparent, also. Click OK and then resize the box that has the text. Then move one over the other until they are placed where you want them. If you want to different sizes or want text in different places, make as many text boxes as you need. You can make changes as you work with the text boxes.
When you have things as you want them, Click on Layers, then Select All, then Group.
Save it to your computer as a png.
I didn't have luck in trying to add a gif image to the transparent png.
It saved it as a gif and was no longer transparent. I'm going to try a few other tricks. If you try it, feel free to post about your results.
Have Fun!
