Group Housekeeping

Photobucket
Does anyone have any objections of a little housekeeping being done in the group?
By that, recently I was checking out the members list and noticed that more than half of the members here have not visited the group in over a year. A lot of those people do not show any recent activity on eons at all and that leads me to believe that they just left the site completely.
My thinking is that it would be easier to keep up with members of the group if some of these "no shows" were deleted. If by some chance they decided to come back at some time in the future, they would just need to rejoin.
As far as deleting a member that does have other current activity on Eons, I would send them a PM first before hitting the delete button.
To me, it just makes sense that, if someone hasn't visited the group in over a year, they really don't have a lot of interest in it.
Then once we have the membership looking a little more current, it might be easier to start arranging regional get togethers again.
Please voice your opinion. If the consensus is to leave things as they are, then I won't even consider removing anyone.

Sounds good to me, remember some folks abandoned eons during the "age" controversy.

havenfun...thanks...I'm mainly concerned with those that don't even bother coming to the group at all.
There are many members that never reply or post obviously, but they still come to the group and that shows on the member list.

sandl...thanks...yes, I'm afraid the "age" controversy lost us many members, all over, not just in this group.

I agree with the housekeeping suggestion about keeping just current (interested) members int he group.
What was the age disscussion?

armybrat54...the age controversy was almost a year ago now, when Eons made the decision to open the gates to people under the age of 50. This included teenagers. Many people did not like this decision and even though most of us protested the change, Eons still made the change. Many people left at that time. Myself, even though I didn't like the decision, I chose to stay and see what happened. Of course, there were a few problems, but for the most part everything has returned to normal. This controversy was one of the main reasons this group went to a semi-private status with membership requiring approval first.

Delete those that are INACTIVE & showed NO signs in Eons anyplace.
Then PM etc the others.
Can apply to other Eons groups.

Hi WC,

I agree also. I sometimes only have time or energy to look and see what's up. Getting together regionally sounds fun and I would be up for that.

I belong to another company group organization and after a year they are deleted automatically. That way people know who is interested, active or wants to stay. I often make sure I click on just to keep my status active.

Hope you had a great birthday.

Hi willitsgal....Yeah, me too. Its a good idea to do a little home cleaning here. I drop by once in a while and I too like the idea of a reagional get together.....maybe once a week or something? I would be here for that. Keep up the good work.
cheers.

I fully agree. I would go farther than that personally. To join, it should be mandatory for that person have to post their entry to the group. Introduce yourself!!! Give us something to post to. It shouldn't be necessary for the manager to have to keep up with someone that lacks the courtesy or interest to return and reply to their post. I'd even suggest that members need to make a post at least once every three months or so to stay current. If you're not interested enough to participate at least once every three months, do we need them? Sorry, call me a hardazz but that's the way I see it.
