What kind of sewing do you have in mind? I sew everything from quilts to clothing. I don't do large quilts, I need instant gratification. I also design and create handbags and tote bags. What is it you like to do? Peace and Prosperity, Pamela

Hello again, I just read what you are interested. Totally missed it the first time I was here. Have you watched or gone to HGTV? I have seen some applications for you want to do. www.hgtv.com and put in the subject and it will give you all related shows. Making It tv show did an interview with a woman who is making handbags with pictures and making handbags personalized with special orders from customers and she is doing very well at it. There is always room for new creative businesses especially with the internet. Making It tv has a website which is excellent. www.makingittv.com.

I do a lot of sewing, especially in the summer. I haven't tried printing photos on fabric, although I've seen some nice applications of this. Right now I'm working on Christmas gifts for this Christmes (hopefully!). I'm a teacher so I don't get as much time to sew during the school year. I also make garments and use pattern-making software.

I print photos on fabric. Currently I'm printing photos of Dad to make memory quilts for each of my brothers. I got started with this because after Dad's funeral, the only thing everyone seemed to want as a keepsake were his photo albums. So I scanned all his photos and made DVD's for everyone so they could print what they wanted. Then while cleaning out his house found that he truly was "the king of the plaid shirt!" So now the plan is to make each of my brothers a memory quilt using various photos using his shirt fabrics as frames.

To make the fabric photos I use 100% egyptian cotton (200 count or higher) treated with BubbleJet Set 2000. I've found my best work is accomplished using archival, ultra-bright ink in my high resolution, high quality photo printer. This produces a sharper image that doesn't fade with normal washing. I tried using my normal everyday deskjet and the photos were not as clear or sharp and I was not satisfied with the look after repeated washings.

I have also printed fabric photos for others (for a fee, as a small business) but there seems to be little demand even when I marketed it to local quilting shops. I'll be happy to exchange ideas, suggestions, etc with anyone.
