I found this website by doing a Google search. It has some very good advice:

Hi friends,
Usually Iodine is a major player in the picture somehow. As you might guess, an "allergy" to iodine would be the first thing I would look for (using muscle response testing). I had one instance in which a 19 year old young man had a significantly large goiter. I had been involved in the natural and alternative types of treatments for his entire family in the past, so they consulted me. I found an allergy to T3 (one of the hormones involving the thyroid), and his blood results indicated that his T4 was very low. I treated him using an allergy elimination technique, and found that his LIVER, not his thyroid was blocking the hormone balance. I used specific micro-current frequencies for the liver. That was on a Tuesday. On Thursday his goiter was reduced to about half the size, and his liver tested as functional, but then his thyroid did test as being blocked at that time - which I treated. SO >>> Long story short - check for "allergies" to iodine, hormones, fatty acids, cholestrerol, and primarily the liver and thyroid functions. BTW, the family medical doctor commented that the change was undeniably because of the "energetic" treatments that were done, because although she had begun medication for the thyroid, in her past experience that medication typically took about 6 months in order to show changes. On Thursday his blood showed normal for T3 and T4, and I did not treat him again for the problem.
I'm explaining all of this so that some of you might have an example of how to approach thinking "out of the box" in conditions like this.
Also, there is one source for "water soluble Iodine" that can be applied topically or taken orally and bypasses the liver for absorption (that might be through the Edgar Cayce group). I don't currently remember exactly what or where, but if it is of significance to you please PM me and I will find out for sure.

Sounds like increasing iodine might help the condition?
I don't know, but my BIL has a goiter. I will ask him. I have never heard of Hashimotos Disease, please tell more about this.
I always thought you avoided a goiter by eating iodized salt, but
don't know what to do after you get one. Lots of folks got goiters when I was a child before they started putting iodine in salt.
GG
Gor, if you will go to "familydoctor.org and type in Hashimotos Disease: What it is and how it is treated" you can find out more about it.
My sister-in-law has Hashimotos's Disease & my mother got something for her through this country naturopathic person-or-other that helped. I'll send my brother an e-mail & ask him if she'll send me the name of the stuff. I think it's a homeopathic liquid or something like that.
Increasing iodine only helps if you are not allergic to it. My younger sister is allergic to iodine, chlorine, fluorine, bromine & a few other elements. She goes into anaphylectic [sp] shock. Can't eat seafood, use chlorine bleach, iodized salt, povidone, fluoridated toothpaste or any of that. I've tried & tried to get her to see a naturopath to no avail.
Still haven't heard from my brother or sister-in-law. I'm wondering if they're checking their e-mail.
I finally heard from my brother! His wife uses a remedy called "Thyroid & Adrenal Health" from a company called New Sun. I've seen similar rememdies at health stores that may do the same thing. She also takes a hair, skin & nails supplement.
For years, she had difficulty with her monthly cycle, suffered difficulty in pregnancy & had weight problems. She started using these remedies & her weight settled down & she became regular & suddenly was able to become pregnant & carry it through. Now they have 3 healthy children.
Bluejjazz, that is wonderful news! I have seen those as well, and took them once when I was exhausted ( prescribed by a naturopath ). Amazing how natural remedies work when the medical people are still making a mess of things...
