Sunday

Good morning Bookies!
Looks like a nice day ahead. I'll try to get the garden turned before the 1st football game comes on.

Outlander may be a little too much of the "Chic Lit." genre for me but I think I'll push on for a while.

Ya'll have a nice Sunday.

The Hubby's greens are coming up & the recent rain helped. Should have a "mess" of greens before long!

The Vols tanked another one yesterday - maybe next year...... I've started the 3rd in the Philip Kerr WWII series - it's now 1947 and a war devestated Berlin has been divided into its various sectors. Our hero is trying to work with the Soviets - whether he wants to or not!

Enjoy the fall weather all!

Stick with it..the series is so much more than a love story. The amount of research the author does is incredible. I believe she is a Botany professor also...You will learn so much history of Scotland, the Caribbean, the early United States from reading this series, it's just amazing!

Will do readntravel..My wife and I are sorta of casual amateur botanist. We sample some wild plants when we are absolutely sure of what it is. One of our favorites is sassafras root. There doesn't seem to be as many this year. I think the drought has taken its toll.

My daughter in law gave me a signed copy of Lucky You and I have Edgar Sawtelle waiting for me to read...don't know which I will start first.
Beautiful day in Eastern Kansas but I hear that cooler weather is moving here; hopefully not that snow that is in Montana and Utah.
Have a good one.

It's looking good in N.Texas this morning might spend the morning stripping varnish while the weather is good.

Nebraska tanked, too, bopeep, although they played their hearts out and took the #7 team into OT, which was totally unexpected. Give them a few years... ; - )

I'm at a good part in Heat Lightning, and looking forward to starting The Memory of Water.

mudqueen, good luck with the varnish stripping. Years ago, like 40 years... I had a project to remove the old varnish from woodwork and floorboards in a house we'd bought. I did the removal and sanded, then applied a stain. Not realizing it was a wiping stain, I just brushed it on and left it. OMG! Total disaster. Having 3 little kids and a bunch of cats running around, I just threw up my hands and left it... sigh... did get to the point eventually where I didn't see it anymore. ; - )

As much as South Carolina needed the rain, almost 4 days of overcast skies was almost to much to take from a state that normally has sunshine daily. It was wonderful to wake up with sunshine coming through the windows.
My daughter just got an 8 weeks old Labradoodle(lab and standard poodle mix), a little girl she has named Bella. This is my oldest who didn't have any children. I do have other grandkids, but I am considering Bella my grand dog and I'm busy putting together a box of "presents" for Bella and my daughter Laura. I'll try and post her picture.

I've seen pictures of labradoodles and they are just great looking, and I hear their personalities are wonderful as well. :) Also have a friend with a goldendoodle, and that dog is like a child to them.

conniekay we have a grand dog named Bella who doesn't know she is dog. Her pic is in the bookoholics photo file. Labradoodles are just a big ball of fur. They had some at the human society and it took all my will power to walk away. We have a full crop of apples now. I pick most up for the deer my daughter feeds. Mary

Mary, right along the driveway of ours, our neighbor has apple trees, and we see deer eating them right off the tree! Until Stevey sees them as well. ;-)
