hi Platform5,
One book is on travel but its about my experiences, I have lived in Germany for 3 years as a child lived in Bad Tolz, and in omerramagou I hope I spelled that right but probably not need a spell checker. I am writing a recipe book love to cook, and I do canning which is becoming a lost art, I am writing a love story and since today I started a blog for my radio show, so I am sooo busy cant believe how blessed I am sometimes. I would be very interested in your books maybe we can pm each other sometime cant say much here do not want to get into trouble, dont want to cross the line, so I will pm you later after the storm passes. have a great evening.Barb Brainerd

Hi- your books all sound interesting. I used to can apple butter and pear butter years ago (under the supervision of my sister-in-law.) There are a few groups on eons where you can tell more about your books. I'll PM you. Your travel book is something I will want to read. I know the 2 towns where you lived. The spelling is Oberammergau if you mean the town where the Passion Play is performed in years ending in "zero." You were close with the spelling.
I have been asked to write more in this group about my travels by train but I also have to write a little about the living and the sights. I am sure you could tell some of your experiences. You must have traveled some by trains in Germany. You could start with that and tell some about your life there as I am planning to do. Check out my message, " My First Train In Europe."

Hi platform5,
I have made apple butter a lot of work but very yummy too, Yes Oberammergau that was the town I was talking about. I was 9 years old when we left I do remember the train ride, we had to take a ferry a train and then a plane back to the states . when we did our sunday drives we would go almost to the Austria border, could not go over dad was in the Army that would have been considered Awal so he was carefull. we stayed in a German Guest Haus for about 14 days before returning to the states. the elderly couple could only speak german and my mom could only speak english so meal time was a funny site to see. they had these big feather beds on the materesses and my mom said they were comforters and made us sleep under them, the lady told me they were feather beds, and I had to explain to my mom you dont sleep under them, but istead you sleeep on top of them.. mom did not understand this untill 1 day before we left. until dad arrived and explained it to her
I think you should write more about your travels by train, I dont think there would be any problem with writing about the people and sights, becuase that would give people a idea of places they might want to visit, and it could not hurt to know the customs eigther, maybe its just me but I would love to know those kinds of things when I travel to places I dont know. on the train I remember we had a large car which we shared with another couple, and us kids didnt get much sleep becuase it was hard to sleep sitting up, I remember my sister Linda got the best bed in the house the baby carriage, so at least she could lie down.anyway thats some of it,you have a great night,Barb Brainerd

Barb, you have just written an interesting and humorous story. That is what I meant in another reply. You did take a train ride so just keep on posting or replying to us about those times.
I do disagree with the featherbed thing. They really are to cover with! I have have read and heard about tourists who tried to get in the beds as if they were sleeping bags. When I first arrived in Germany I tried to lie on the feather bed. I have one of the sheets with the buttons at the top that a featherbed fits in but not the featherbed. They are very expensive now for the real thing.
Please post a message as you remember those days or any other days of your travels. We would like to know about all of our members.
Sleeping sitting up on a train in a foreign country must have been a great, if uncomfortable, adventure for you.
I have begun writing about my time in Germany and other travels in a message called "My First Train in Germany" in this group.

rowkit- I had wanted to go on that Copper Canyon trip and sent for brochures on it. It was too expensive for me though. Have you been on it?
