Chit Chat Cafe

This cozy little cafe is just the place for chums to meet and talk about the everyday stuff that is happening in their lives. Stop in, even if it just to say hello or good morning!

Cute, gJ, cute! Ok, you got me, I admit it

But you all know what I mean...... Join a group and never visit again? What's up with that?

I must admit I did that very thing on another Social Network . . . I signed up and promptly forgot all about it until I received an email message from them . . . when I finally checked back in I had about 1000 messages to delete! So, sometimes I think people mean well but they get side-tracked or real life events intervene . . . you just never know.

I recently reconnected with my VERY FIRST Eons friend! She had just "fallen off the face of the earth" . . . but I kept sending her holiday and birthday wishes . . . and it turned out that she had been ill and really appreciated my concern.

And then there are those people that just "collect groups" . . . never to be seen or heard from again after they join. Often, they're still active in other groups. Sometimes they have "no recent activity" anywhere on Eons.

It is indeed one of the mysteries of Social Networking.

One of the Groups that I joined awhile back was called "Save The Sandwich". There were no new posts on it for months after I joined. So that was the type of Group I wanted to clean out. CCC is one of my favorite groups.

I would say that at a bare minimum you should commit at least ten minutes per day to a group you belong to. That is ample time to read and make a quick reply. We have EONS members with membership in way more than 100 groups. Even if they were to visit each group only once a week for ten minutes that amounts to nearly seventeen hours a week. I just got done clearing out over 85 inactive (no activity in over 3 months) members in my Blooming Boomers group.

I'm in 18 groups and I think that is to many. Let's see if I spend 10 minutes a day in each group that would be 180 minutes or 3 hours per day. It is a good things a few groups I'm in are not very active and now I must go and check in with "Blooming Boomers." I sure do not want GJ to "clear me out" of that group. :) Everyone have a good night.

I've deleted myself out of a few groups a couple of months back. I felt guilty not visiting them much, but then again, they weren't very active or interesting.

I belong to 20 at the moment . . . I am the most active in about 6 . . . then there is another set of groups that I pop into occasionally . . . and most of the others are for informational purposes only. I've belonged to more over the 2+ years I've been a member of the Eons Community, but I've found that I just don't have time (and energy!) to participate in more than what I have now. ~KK
