How many work on their own bike?

I just learned how to adjust my primary chain "by ear", have to admit, she shifts a lot smoother than when adjusted the mechanical measurememnt way.

I do all my own work. Do not trust others to work on it.
But I must admit I do not adjust chains.

I have three bikes and have never been to a shop, with the exception of taking wheels to be balance. They are good websites such as "motorcycle repair/Expertvillage" that will give some basics. You will have to buy some special tools. Last but not lease how to do and repair books. You must have a desire and never quit, if you run into a mountain take a nap and go back again. Once you have completed the smallest of projects your confidence will be over ramped.

Every time I buy a diferent bkie I always buy the sevice manual. I do just about all my own work. I have I do a better job then the shop mechanic who is in a hurry and cross threads my bolts! I Bought a tire machine and do all my own tires and built a tire balancer.
