Incorrect 'facts' abut Palin corrected

This is a summary from Factcheck.org about some of the major lies being spread around about Governor Palin. There are detailed explanations of each one at the end, that I'm not posting because of the length, but I have included the link.

False Internet claims and rumors fly about McCain's running mate.
Summary
We’ve been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.
• Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.
• She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin's first term.
• She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.
• Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a "courtesy" when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.
• Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska's schools. She has said that students should be allowed to "debate both sides" of the evolution question, but she also said creationism "doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."
We'll be looking into other charges in an e-mail by a woman named Anne Kilkenny for a future story. For more explanation of the bullet points above, please read the Analysis.

Correction: In our original story, we incorrectly said that a few of the claims we examine here were included in the e-mail by Kilkenny. Only one of the claims – about the librarian's firing – was similar to an item in that e-mail. We regret the error.
Analysis
Since Republican presidential nominee John McCain tapped Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate, information about Palin's past has been zipping around the Internet. Several claims are not true, and other rumors are misleading.

Sorry Panch. I should have remembered. I'm getting all backed up here (busy morning) and I'm not thinking straight. Which reminds me of a joke:

Q:
What color are the eyes of a (fill in name of opposing political party) after receiving an enema?

A:
Clear.

I don't see why anybody needs to lie about Palin. Her fertile historical political and personal field is full of many stupid atrocities.

She's a dumb bitch who wants creationism taught in school; won't teach her kid to use a condom; won't let a woman choose what to do with her own vagina; is anti-gay; loves to let people shoot wolves from helicopters; believes the Iraq war is "God's Plan" ... the list is endless. I think it's great for people who agree with her to vote for her. The kind of people who support this stuff are becoming few and fewer.

To me, she's a shrill GOP Gidget neanderthal nitwit to whom I'm grateful. She inspires so much humor.

Great joke, jd

God, I wish Republicans (and both of the "Democrats for Palin") did this kind of research when Obama was being called a Muslim born outside of the US with ties to terrorist organizations who want to enslave the white race.

I'm sure many of the Palin rumors are either untrue, or have a few facts wrong. While she may not have been a member of that Alaska Secession Group, she sure gave a rousing speech to their members earlier in the year applauding their work.

Debating "both sides" of evolution is not the same as preaching creationism? What "sides" are there to evolution in a science class?

And Vikings didn't really wear the hats with the horns. Another myth. ;-P

For me, no need for name calling or funny pics-- though that is a good one. Personally, not crazy about the 'bitch' term-- that pushes a button for the days when that was a conservative term for strong women. I dont care if she thought martians dropped us here in 1329.

I care that she has no national or internatioal experience. Oh, she did recently say she had not been keeping up with the Iraq war. WTF? And another recent claim she didnt really know what a vice=president did. ???? And that she, by all indiciations, was, at most, at the bottom of any list of a credible candidate for VP.

Until... the image... the IMAGE....

There wasnt even a McCain forum on Eons before she was nominated. Then ZAP- several. Based on one friggin speech. And I bet the huge majority jumped on that sweet bandwagon before looking at anything about her.

She energized me more, that's for sure. I never thought McCain was the doom of the country. Just more of the same crap-- and I personally have had about enough.

But Palin energized me, too.

With one simple image: President Palin.

I see a valkyrie or two besides the horny guys. They seem to display a lot of animal parts up there in the Great White North.

Mom always told me that real men shoot animals with small horns because the ones with small horns are younger and taste better.

So is "Ride of the Valkyries" Wagner's only piece with underlying sexual themes?

So, Bunny...Tell us what you really think...Are you leaning one way or another on the upcoming election?

Don't know about all the rest, but I do know this about her and it isn't made up.

She supports reducing individual freedoms

And

she supports paying for the small government she is going to create by borrowing from oil and employment rich countries, because she will continue to give tax relief to Companies that send their job overseas.
