Incorrect 'facts' abut Palin corrected

This is a summary from Factcheck.org about some of the major lies being spread around about Governor Palin. There are detailed explanations of each one at the end, that I'm not posting because of the length, but I have included the link.

False Internet claims and rumors fly about McCain's running mate.
Summary
We’ve been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.
• Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.
• She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin's first term.
• She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.
• Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a "courtesy" when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.
• Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska's schools. She has said that students should be allowed to "debate both sides" of the evolution question, but she also said creationism "doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."
We'll be looking into other charges in an e-mail by a woman named Anne Kilkenny for a future story. For more explanation of the bullet points above, please read the Analysis.

Correction: In our original story, we incorrectly said that a few of the claims we examine here were included in the e-mail by Kilkenny. Only one of the claims – about the librarian's firing – was similar to an item in that e-mail. We regret the error.
Analysis
Since Republican presidential nominee John McCain tapped Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate, information about Palin's past has been zipping around the Internet. Several claims are not true, and other rumors are misleading.

Factcheck.org didn't say anything about Palin tried to terminate the librarian over the same issue. So I guess that part is true.

Didn't say a word about cutting the funding for a teenager with babies homeless shelter...didn't say anything about slashing the funding for a food bank by half -- LAST YEAR. She's still a heartless bitch that I don't want anywhere near the federal government.

Personally, I think that snopes.com is a far better fact checker.

The most important thing to remember about Sarah Palin is this. SHE'S JUST NOT QUALIFIED to be PRESIDENT in the event of a problem with Mr. McCain.

O.K., back to qualifications.

Why is Palin NOT qualified to be President?

How is it that Obama IS qualified.

Personally I think joe Biden is more qualified than any of them.

thats just my not so humble opinion.

I'm watching these answers so be concise.

You want concise? Not my forte.

OK- zero national and international experience and zero indication she had even developed her own opinions in this regard.

Second, by all indications, even McCain didn't have her as a first (maybe even second or third) choice. The McCain campaign has suggested they dont think the campaign is about issues. She was picked as a Hail Mary to win. Country first my ass. I dont want those kinds of people in the White House.

Good Qualifications... Can't Manage her own home, but she wants to be V.P. of the Untied States... Sounds qualified to me.

A cannibal was walking through the jungle and came upon a restaurant operated by a fellow cannibal. Feeling somewhat hungry, he sat down and looked over the menu...

Tourist: $5
Broiled Missionary: $6.00
Fried Explorer: $7.00
Baked Democrat or Grilled Republican: $100.00

The cannibal called the waiter over and asked, 'Why such a price difference for the Politicians?'

The cook replied, 'Have you ever tried to clean one? They're so full of shit, it takes all morning!'

O.K. so much for Palin.....

How about Obama's national and international experience?

Pacho- I've always had issues with Obama in that regard-- Yes a US Senator but for a short time. And in 18 months of endless scrutiny, he has shown a command of the issues. I was also relieved he chose Biden- just for this reason. Made me more comfortable with my choice

(I needed more that one speech to be convinced).

I wonder how much forum moderators/managers cost on the Cannibal Menu?

There are only a few qualifications required to be President.

1) Natural born citizen
2) 35 years old or older
3) Fourteen years residency in US
4) Cannot have been elected to President more than once, nor served more than two years of another term plus being elected once.

Those are the only qualifications required to be President.
Anything else we would like to see are wants, not requirements.

Yeah jd...

I agree with you man.

I have pointed that out in other posts when "qualifications" came up and suggested they replace the word qualified with effective.
