I saw my nutritionist yesterday

She gave me a new system and it actually seems fun. It is a group of red and yellow stars. The red stars are carbs and the yellow stars are protien. My breakfast stars are three carbs and one protien. and one free food. If I don't use one of my stars it can be placed in the next meal pile of stars.
My lunch stars are also three red and one yellow. But if I don't use my morning yellow it can be used at lunch and 2 oz. of protien or I could use it for breakfast and not have it at lunch how ever I want to sort the cards. (stars).
Dinner is Four red stars and two yellow. plus I need to have veggies here and I should have veggies at lucnh. I should go buy myself some green stars for veggies. lol

Then I am not to skip any meals and especially not my bedtime snack. at ten pm I have two red stars (carbs) to eat. This can be one cup of Chocolate soymilk since I like that or toast or whatever.

The stars are easy to carry with me. I keep them clipped together or I could keep them in envelopes marked as B L and D and S for snack.

I have to have a protein and a carb before exercise and possibly a carb after and I have to check my self before and after for blood sugar readings. I suppose I borrow them from a meal? All of this is basic but it is like we need to review it once a year. Even basic we get out of touch with sometimes. The stars are kind of simpilistic and maybe childish but I like the idea. It makes it easier for me to remember what to do.

Since I lost thirty pounds and kept it off for a year she wants me to lose more now and it doesn't have to be a set amount. What ever I feel comfortable losing and then keeping off. I'm on 1500 calories a day but she is allowing me one or two days a week that I can have 1800 calories if I have a special event going on such as a birthday or a party or a holiday. I think that is terrific.

The doctor took away coffee and other items I love but she gave them back to me in moderation. I can have one coffee in the morning before breakfast. I love this woman. For coffee I gave her a big hug.... She also said I can eat beans as my protien since I'm not a meat lover.

I have to learn to carry a sandwich with me as I have a bad habit of skipping lunch. I have to stop that. My cholesterol is the lowest it has ever been at 179 total and I'm proud of that. My A1c is good too at 6.6 but it used to be 6.2 so I need to get more serious as I was sneaking a donut here and there. (Yes, me, I'm ashamed). But I can have birthday cake once in a blue moon if I give up two carbs and a fat but not very often since that isn't healthy. My iron is low so she wants me to take an iron suppliment and red meat once a week. I also need to take calcium but not at the same time as the iron since they cancel each other out and not at the same time as my meds. I think I need more stars or maybe moons.

So Today is the first day of my new program. I'm excited because it is new. Don't know how long I'll stay excited. But I would like your feedback. Opinions good or bad and see what you think of this plan. I still take my two metformin a day and 30 units of lantus in the morning. Maybe I'll be able to get off some of this. The last time I started a new routine I dropped the glybride completely and never needed it again. Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted how I'm doing.ONE more important thing. I have fibromyalgia. She said my muscles need protien and I've been starving them since I was eating all my carbs and not all my protien. She thinks I may have less pain when I start eating more protien. Lets hope she is right about that. I'm going to cross post this to my fibro group.
Thanks for caring.

Best of luck on the new program. Definitely watch the protein to help with the fibromyalgia. And I LOVE the new headshot!
