I wouldn't care if he was an atheist. I don't care what God he prays to; his spirituality is his own belief and has no business in politics.
We are not a Christian Nation.
I agree.
How about one of you folks who have openly said Mr. Obama is a Muslim, especially those who infer it by saying he is a terrorist, stepping out into the light to answer this question.
I would like to see all mention of "God" taken from our currency, our speeches, our schools, and get back to the basics of government, not thinly disguised proselytizing.
A good part of our country is voting for how religious you are, and what religion you are. I feel like I'm stuck in a religious dictatorship, an extremist Christian theocracy; I feel like I know how it feels to be a minority in a country like Iran, or a non-Mormon in Utah. Scary.
# 1. Religion has nothing to do with anything as long as they're Hoquiputinists.
# 2. Obesity is fundamentally wrong. There is no excuse for an elected official be over size 16.
# 3. Given the shortage of political candidates we might consider shrinking the size of Congress.
It is easy for some people in our group to say a person is a Muslim with disdain as if it is wrong to be a Muslim.
I notice these same people always run away and hide when it comes to answering direct questions that would easily expose their ignorance and bigotry.
Racism and ethnic-based bigotry will always be with us. What really bothers me is the people who will use every contrived reason they can muster not to vote for someone who is different from them but would never confess their own bigotry.
I really think some of them are blind to it in their own lives.
Do you think its conscience, Merlin?
I'm really beginning to wonder.
I don't think it's conscience. I honestly believe it's a feeling of inferiority. If you feel badly about yourself you can make yourself feel better by finding someone else who you can look down on. It's been happening since man first stood erect.
You see it in all the posturing:
I'm a better American than you.
I have a better education.
I make more money than you do.
I drive a better car.
My dad can beat up your dad.
My ancestors got here first.
My family has had money longer than your family.
It's all meaningless in the end.
CNN just had a discussion on how Muslim voters were feeling.
The majority are Independent with only about 20% for Obama
and a small % for McCain.

I think it matters not based on the education of the individual. I think there is a fundamental difference between a highly educated religious person, and one who is not so educated. I think educated people believe in principle where as others are more literal. I think it would matter not as long as he or she were an educated intelligent individual.
