Firefox is the browser I prefer. Just this week, I helped a coworker set up her new MacBook and downloaded Firefox as part of the process. If there's an Apple store in your neighborhood, that would be the best place to take your Mac for a tune-up.

Helen, pay no attention to those Mac abusers. They don't know what they're missing. I've been using a Mac since it was called an Apple. I was trained on an Apple II E, I think? It was before the mouse was invented. I was a teacher and some bright vice-superintendent decided ALL teachers should be computer literate and take classes. That was fine with me because I was an art teacher and couldn't find classes to take that were relevant t what I was teaching, so I could increase my pay.
I remember when Bill Gates came out with his big announcement of "Windows"! I thought, what's he talking about? Apple already had windows. He stole them from Steve Jobs because Jobs didn't have enough sense to patent them or whatever you call it.
By the way, I'm on my second (actually third if you count the old Apple I had) Mac. My first was a 1998 iMac which is still working and now I have an eMac. They were intended for schools (hence the "e" for education) and sold briefly on the market. You can't get them anymore except on eBay. Someday, I'll get a new iMac with a nice big screen. The eMac looks like the first iMac, except it's a little bigger and slightly more square. The screen is only 16" though.

I have Firefox on my mac, because there is one site which I order things from monthly, which does not work with Safari. But my default browser is Safari. Firefox does not scroll smoothly for me, which gives me a headache. It is supposedly safer, etc. but I have scarcely any problems with Safari, which i have used since I bought this computer - two years ago.
