No wonder...

John McCain thinks anyone making less than 5 million dollars a year is middle class.

By MELANIE COFFEE, Associated Press Writer
"Vanity Fair editors estimated that McCain's fierce saffron shirt dress with the popped collar, diamond earrings, four-strand pearl necklace, white Chanel watch and strappy shoes totaled up to $313,100."

That is a ridiculous amount of money for one outfit.

Well, it is her money and she can spend it as she sees fit. I was just thinking...if that estimate was accurate, it would be enough to buy a home! At least the size of home I would look for...which is far smaller than any home they own. :)

But you know what? Michelle Obama to me looked more elegant in her ocean blue dress which was adorned by that simple floral broach. And I'll bet it cost a fraction of what Mrs. McCain's outfit did.

I don't begrudge the wealthy their indulgences, good for her. I'm glad to she her flaunt it. It's a fine example of Republican beliefs .... "we're rich and don't give a damn about you"

It took a while, but I did find information about what was worn at the DNC. "Michelle Obama in a $1100 Maria Pinto dress."
This is still expensive on my budget, but she was a featured speaker at an internationally televised event.

If you got money, and got it honestly, spend it as you will. I don't care, is not my money. I like Cindy McCain, but it bothered me that she continues to portray herself as the "only" child. She is not. Daddy was married, and she does have a sister, who got only ten thousand dollars when Daddy died.

LOL Sherry! I knew Michelle Obama was wearing a dress by a designer she likes (Maria Pinto) and I would have guessed it was in the hundreds of dollars as a result. I just looked at a photo of it again and I still think it looked stunning on her. Yes, too expensive for my budget too, but as a future First Lady speaking at a venue like that, it was appropriate, IMO.

I agree, if you want it and can afford it, buy it. Just don't, then, try to play up the "We're just regular people" angle.
