Image Editor - Free Download

NOTE: I posted this earlier but accidently left out the clickable link to download the program. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Sinker! The post has now been corrected to include the link to serif software.

Most people won’t have an image editor that can save in the Internet’s two graphics formats (GIFs and JPEGs). On the web, you can’t use .bmps, as their filesizes are too big — therefore, MS Paint does not count as a useful graphics editor.

I strongly recommend the COMPLETELY FREE program, Serif PhotoPlus. PhotoPlus 6 is the amazing image editing software that enables you to fix and enhance photographs, bitmap graphics and even create web animations - completely free! Adjust brightness and contrast, colour balance, remove red-eye and make numerous other image adjustments and enhancements, achieving fantastic results time after time.

All the tools and features you need are laid out in a convenient toolbar and effects and filters are accessed via user-friendly drop-down menus. Help is on hand with tips that appear on-screen while you work, so that you get the very most from PhotoPlus 6.

Whether you’re new to image editing or a digital imaging enthusiast, PhotoPlus has a wide range of easy-to-use tools and features that will help transform your digital photo collection and create professional looking images for print, multimedia and the web. You can download your FREE copy by CLICKING HERE!

So download your copy, play with it a while...learn all the functions...you'll be glad you did, particularly when we cover adding pictures to your website or eons posts. And remember, the program is absolutely free. It will not cost you anything now...or later!

I love playing around with image editing and thought the fun stuff cost too much. This is something right up my alley.
Thanks Lee.

Is it not compatible with Vista yet Lee? I've got Vista and it's not downloading for me!

I'll have to check into that, PapaB. I find it hard to believe that it would not be compatible with the Vista operating system.

Just downloaded this and tried it. GREAT FIND, Lee!!

Also, for anyone running Microsoft Office, you get Microsoft Office Picture Manager included with the 2003 version. Not as good since you can't do layers and a lot of detailed manipulations but for a simple red eye, crop, resize and color adjustments, it's quick and easy. Again, you only get this with MS Office so it only applies to those of you who have the product.

I like Picasa (available free at Picasa.com) It does a lot, and is also a terrific little photo organizer.

Great croping, resizing, moving, deformation, painting, cloning, smudging, erasing, airbrushing, image-mapping and other fun operations and options!

And yes, you read correctly. It's absolutely free. It's not trialware or shareware. You download it...you own it!

Check it out!
