I have 4 cats, 2 of which are FIV+, so all of them stay indoors. They are truly a joy. My dog protects them all, although when my dog first got here, he used to torment them alot (we used baby gates to separate the cats from the dog).I have 2 Maine Coon Cats, 1 American short-hair and 1 gray tabby. My dog is a Puggle-Pug/beagle cross with something else mixed in. I don't know what I would do without my cats and dogs - they are wonderful to share my life with.
When I find the photo I'll post it. On Christmas morning Dec 25th 1965 when I woke up and heard all this meowing didn't know what it was. When we all got up (me and my 5 brothers and sisters) we each saw in our stocking hanging on the mantle, a Brown Tabby Kitten. No candy canes and the usual stuff. Since then everyone in my family has become a Cat Fancier. We treat cats sometimes better than we treat people. Every brother, sister, neice and nephew has cats in their homes and apartments. We don't give them the usual silly names most cats get. My cats: Benson, Katie, Matthew, Ginger, Chrissy, Linda and Lee. Rest of the family has Bruce I, and Bruce II, Midnight, Ebony, Jazzy, Adrienne, Arthur, Smokey, Pancake, Skittles, Rain, and a few others. My neice named hers Pancake because when he lays down he lays on his stomach with all four legs spread in different directions, so he likes laying Flat.
I keep dreaming if I won the Lotto, I'd buy a 20 acre piece of land, and build a mansion so that 100 cats or more could live there. I'd hire a maid to clean litter pans, a butler to feed the cats, and a Vet to live on the premise rent free as long as he did his job in caring for the cats.
On my apt door I took the logo from the TV Show Must Love CATs and thats on the front door so whoever enters as the sign says, "Must love cats"
I have a sign on my front steps "Don't Let The Cat Out...No Matter What It Tells You". Like you Housekat I think it is good to let people know we are cat people. Cat People are the BEST People.
I am so glad I found this group.
