MIND IF I ASK A PERSONAL QUESTION?

Hey folks.... for those that don't mind sharing such information... Did you retire WITH a mortgage? or WITHOUT?

We paid off the mortgage and haven't any credit card, or car payments. Now if only we had National Health I'd actually have a little to spend for fun.

I retired without, sold my large home in an itty bitty town, bought myself a new mobile home, but have some credit card bills. Still I was doing ok til the economy went south.

We retired without debt but we have an open home equity mortgage for emergencies which I pay off as soon as possible. It gets me through the cash flow problems which come up from time to time like unexpected medical bills.

I WILL retire with no mortgage. Not sure I will ever retire but when I do I will have no mortgage and minimal debit.

Retired with mortgage but house payment is less than rent in this area.

I have a small mortgage (less than what we would pay for rent...) but no other debt. I can pay off the house but I am still working and tax wise, it is better for us to do this.

Why did you ask?

I have retired early but my husband may work another 5 or 6 years, hopefully. We paid our home off 2 years ago. We have a small credit debt but I sure would like to buy a newer car.:)

I guess my sleepless nights worrying about money are in my distant past. When I retired, had no mortgage, no debt, adequate yearly income, a decent investment portfolio (until the past eight months or so), and excellent health. I have slept like the proverbial babk ever since.
good luck.
