MIND IF I ASK A PERSONAL QUESTION?

Hey folks.... for those that don't mind sharing such information... Did you retire WITH a mortgage? or WITHOUT?

my wife died about a year ago...we each has some life insurance...hers paid off one mortgage...I still owe 75K (overspending big time on our part)...and am selling our house, moving to NW WI to a travel trailer (then park model trailer when house sells)

when all fails...will sell all up north and move in with son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters (don't tell him...he doesn't know yet)

With a mortgage on our mobile home but our 10 acres is paid off. If we lost the house, we could pitch a tent, I guess. We also have about $10,000 in credit card debt. My husband just got a very good paying job so we hope we can get out of debt quickly before he is forced to retire due to health or some other reason.

With a mortgage. It isn't all that bad, unless something happens I lose my husband and his two retirement checks.

Without a mortgage. I did not feel comfortable retiring with a mortgage. However, with the increasing cost of property taxes and home insurance in Florida, I feel like I almost still have a mortgage.

Without a mortgage. No credit cards, no payments at all, except phone, electric, insurance and taxes.

I was forced to take an early retirement so I have a mortgage, but would have had one anyway if I retired at 62 casue I bought late and remortgaged twice so I had to start over again. Am doing it yet once again for 20 years this time. I will probably die still having a mortgage!!

No morgage, no credit card bills, just monthly utilities, but now have funeral bills to pay. Are savings paid off the rest.

I retired, my husband is still working.

We just paid off the house, our cars are paid for, and we have no credit card debt. We have 5 acres in the country, so I have dial-up, rather than the very expensive high speed available. We live rather simply, but I've been cutting back on driving, groceries (we have a garden), eating out.

My health care is Cobra, so that's an expense.

If the people at "Money" magazine knew what our savings were, they would be laughing all the way to the water cooler.

But we are committed to making it work, and it's a lot more fun than going to work every day.
