@citygal - - thanks for coming in today...I also sometimes wonder, what IS my passion at this age? I'm 57 and I work fulltime for Eons which has been amazing and fun, and I can see myself here for the long haul. In the meantime, I'm reading Gail's tips and wondering about "staying open, keeping an eye out for my opportunities" ... does that mean at my age I should just be open to any new possibility that comes along?

@citygal - - go to the homepage of this group and post a new message with your question now...I think Gail will answer them.

Sorry about that, CityGal. However, we have a GREAT, active chapter in Chicago! Please visit the Transition Network page listed above, and click on Chicago to get more information about your local group.

Hey, CommunityGal! I'm no expert but I'd say YES you should remain open to other/new opportunities, even though you are happy where you are now. Being complacent is like being sedentary: if you don't at least let your mind move around and consider other opportunities, you atrophy and stagnation sets in. Thing always change. Sometimes we see it coming, sometimes we're are completely surprised and unprepared. Looking ahead a little bit, being open to other/new opps may help you realize/develop the inevitable "Plan B". And with life expectancy being extended all the time, who doesn't need a Plan B?

In my opinion and personal experience, keeping your mind and your antennae up for opportunity is the best way to stay open and grow. Getting complacent about anything guarantees that the opportunity sitting just beyond the closed door will remain hidden.
