Hi there, Fellow Wildlife Lovers!

My name is Deborah (Debi) Y Chew. I am currently a teacher in Redondo Beach, CA, teaching 3rd graders and waiting to retire in 7 1/2 years so that I can REALLY get to work with animal protection and conservation efforts, wherever I can possibly go! I LOVE ANIMALS, even more than people. I really respect animals' rights to live peaceful and healthy lives in their natural environments, the way it is really meant to be. I am looking for educational and photographic experiences involving wildlife, particularly during my time off from work, which is very limited at this time. However, I am determined to join a research or photo group that goes out into the field somewhere and contributes/participates in the earth's conservation efforts for any kind of fauna and flora. I believe my BEST education lies outside my former one and work place.
Have a great August, all!

Hi Debi! You don't have to wait until you retire - Earthwatch has many fellowships for K-12 educators - not just science teachers - to go on Earthwatch expeditions. We even have a Live From the Field program - teachers go out on a project during the school year, and communicate with their students through blogs and satellite phone.

Take a look at our website for more information: view link

And if you know any high school students who share your interest, we also have a fellowship program for them: view link

Also take a look at our Teaching Science group and reach out to some of that group's members. Your story likely has some similarities to others!
