It has been suggested that we change the name of our group to signify that it includes all kinds if needlework, such as crewel, candlewicking, embroidery, stamped cross stitch, needlepoint, How about "Stitching By Hand"? We will be able to share ideas, charts, techniq\ues and get to know each other.

Biweekly Crochet Group

Well I spent the afternoon in the park in Long Beach crocheting. Even though it si in the high 80's here in Anaheim, there was an on shore breeze for the first couple of hours and I wished that I had a sweater. Got lots done on the second turquoise sock. I should finish it tonight. Then I really have to look for the camera. I still need to order the book with crocheted socks so I will rotate to some cross stitch for a while.

Home Sweet Home

Thanks for your research Shirlee.

We just got home tonight about 5:30p. Kevin had to stay as he's essential personnel. But my DIL, GD and I went to Ocala, FL. Lori's parents made us welcome, even the two dogs!

GD and I each took our laptops but had trouble getting online there. I managed one night on Kay's computer but then we couldn't seem to do it again. GD amd I were into withdrawal!! I could play games on Microsoft,

Kevin said our immediate area only lost power for a couple of hours, and the cable for a short time. Mostly wind damage.

Now we watch Ike.

I am tired, it's a long ride with my chin on my knees,

Take care.

Power Outages

Well I just found a map of Louisana showing the status of available power for the state after Gustav. While it appears that the majority of the damage from Gustav was more west and north from where Shirley lives, her parish still only has between 25% and 50% of the customers with electricity. So I would imagine that even if her kids are back she will be in Florida a bit longer.

I hope that she is doing well and that her shoulder is getting better.

Gustav

We are preparing to evcuate if we hsve to. We will be going to my DIL's parents in Ocala. I know, Florida is a danger zone too, but they are more in the center of the state amd won't get the full thrust of the storm.

The dear folks are even willing to take on our two dogs! We went to them for Katrina. I stayed a couple of months after the kids came back. They thought it would be too rough for me while repairs were being made.

I pray that Gustave won't hit here. But that means it would hit somewhere else, and we don't want to wish a hurricane on anyone!

I am so tired tonight. I went to the nursing home this morning, then to Walmart for a few things, home for 20 minutes and on to Greenbriar to entertain followed by doing some wash. The barometer is going down and I hurt. But it will pass.

Keep a song in your heart and a project in hand.
