WRITERS WEB OF WHIMSY
Welcome! You’ve picked the right group if you’re a wan-a-be, a beginner, or a published writer. We have monthly prompts to practice your writing in different styles. There’s an opportunity to share your skills in the Combined Writing stories and books, but you must sign up to be a part of it. We will also critique your work at your request.
This group is not for poetry! Share your poetic skills at our sister group, Velvet Pen, managed by MizKat who is also a moderator of this group.
We keep things in threads here. Please do not post large graphics on the main page, (small ones are okay), although we prefer graphics and/or videos to be posted inside the threads.
Please post only a paragraph or two on the main page. If your story or article is longer, explain it in the comment box then post it in the first reply. This will free room on the main page, to give all members a chance to post there. Thank you for your cooperation.

Hey, my dyslexic friend.
You'll be happy to know that a best selling author is also dyslexic, and writes his books out LONGHAND. When written, his wife types them up for him.
Belong or not?
If this is a good place for me or not, will prove out in the next few days. I'll admit I was hooked with the first post with the word dexlexic in the title. Yes -I'm also dyslexic. I've got two books in the works that are at a standstill at the moment.
I'm hopeing to pick up a few tips - hints - etc. to perk things up and moving closer to publication.

Tenacious Love
I've posted my rewrite of chapter 1 in our file area here. If it's not proof publish ready, it is close. In any event, I've done all I can with it at this time. I'm no longer reading or seeing any mistakes. Time to get cracking on chapter 2.
I ran it by a couple people before posting it. It's well worth the time to read it or so I'm told. You will be entertained and enjoy it. That I'm sure of.
If you discover something that need correcting, not that you will, but one never knows. Please be specific about the problem and where it is located. I've added page numbers at the bottom for this.
Also, the chapter is a little long. I'll deal with organizing the chapters when I bring the remaining 30 chapers up to this skill level.

Background

Erin Kingsley is the daughter of a woman born in Ireland who moved to America. Erin was born and raised in America. Her parents were killed in an automobile accident several years before our story begins. Michael Flannigan, a peat farmer is Erin’s uncle living in Ireland. Erin receives a notice from the Irish police department that her uncle has committed suicide. Then she received a letter from Michael’s best friend, Paddy O’Shea stating that he does not believe it was suicide. Erin immediately prepares to travel to Ireland to seek the truth of her uncle’s death. Our story begins when Erin arrives in Ireland.

Creativity
OK, here's a challenge for all of you. We'll do it for the month of July.
You're to take the ordinary, A visit to the dentist, and crate something extraordinary from your experience.
Anything goes, but keep it around a 1000 words or less.
I know everyone has a thing about going to the dentist, so I know this will be fun to write and entertaining to read.
OK, you can all stop yelling at me and get to work.

THE WAY THINGS USED TO BE 15
The Penguin 4
Continued from The Penguin 3
After seeing the effect on Kenny Nails, Blue Book began doing a 360 around every one of us once a week and giving us new estimates of how many years we had before we started going bald. But even though he always wore his snap-brim felt hat after one of his treatments the King Oscar’s sardine/Dole’s pineapple juice odor of the ointment passed right through it. So, whenever he came round on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, guys would hold their noses and say, “What the hell do they put in that stuff, Blue Book?”

The Peony Garden
I've started expanding the stoy ogf Gram's peonies to become a book. I've decided to write it as a love story, spanning four generations. Here's my first chapter attempt.
Latest start of book in files
the most recent new start of a book is in the files. Take a look if you feel like it. It's not checked, heck it's not even finished. Be good one to try out your editing skills on if you want.
