Newbie to Water Color Painting

Hi all! I've just started learning to paint with water colours in July through a seniors association in Kingston. I have got a lot to learn so please feel free to provide me with any tips or techniques you might have to help me along the way to becoming a "great" artist. I am having tons of fun. I just don't seem to have enough time to do all the painting I want to. Do you find that too?

A Newbie

Hi everyone. I took watercolor classes at the Omega Institute and have been trying my hand at home. I'm not too good yet but I'm having so much fun!

I'M BACK

JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW I AM UP OUT OF BED. I WAS FLAT ON MY BACK FOR SEVERAL WEEKS BECAUSE I HAVE A FRACTURED DISK IN MY BACK AS A RESULT OF MY OSTEOPOROSIS. NOW I AM IN A BACK BRACE. AM BACK TO WORK AND BACK TO MY COMPUTER. THE WORLD IS GOOD. STILL HOPING TO GET SOME PHOTO WORK DONE SO I CAN SHARE WITH YOU. THINK I AM GOING TO START AN ART THERAPY GROUP AT THE FACILITY. SOUNDS LIKE FUN. KEEP PAINTING.

me again

HI - Went to paint with two lady friends this am. One has just purchased her first real watercolor paper and tubes of paint. she is so excited.
I worked on a painting of part of a friends yard. There is a trellis with a clematis climbing it. It is off to a pretty good start.
I also write short books and illustrate them for my grand daughter and any future grandkids. It is fun and they will be nice keepsakes I think.

new comer

HI Cool and all the gang ......I am new to eons and looking for places to hang out.
I did alot of painting in oils and acrylics when in college and in my younger days. Have switched to watercolors of late.I paint weekly with a few women at the local community center and dabble on my own at home. I enjoy taking alot of photos if I travel and then translate them into paintings.
It will take me a while to upload any pictures but someday ....
Hope to enjoy getting to know some of you here.

Who is your favorite watercolorist?

Just wondering if you have any favorites - they don't have to be famous folks. I love Winslow Homer but there are so many others. I love to look at the watercolor society online exhibits in the different states as well as the national one. Watercolor is a very popular medium here in Florida - cheap, easy, breezy and the transparent colors capture the light here in Florida.

Nice watercolors Cool!! I'm going to post some little watercolors I just did. D&P is all excited about ATCs which are Artist Trading Cards. They are only 2.5 X 3.5 inches, the size of baseball cards. Artists make them then trade them or sell them. some have been selling on eBay.
