Veterans Funeral Care

I already knew about All Vets in Denver from my friend, but you can probably call the American Legion in your community. I think they participate in some of the services. I think that was who did the 21 gun salute and played taps at my husbands service. All Vets here arranged for them to come to my husbands funeral.

My husband is at a national cemetery

I found out from a friend, that there was a funeral home that specialized in veterans burials. They knew everything about burying veterans at national cemeteries. I ended up not paying a cent. I had him cremated and since he died at the veterans hospital his cremation was on the house. I owed some money after that and the funeral home, that is call All Veterans here in Denver, told me to go to the county. They have funds for burial. They paid the remainder of the bill. I didn't have any money to bury him, so it was a blessing. The funds that he got because he died at the VA was applied to the burial. He was buried at Ft. Logan, Colorado, that is in the Denver Area.

Welcome

Veterans Funeral Care is dedicated to helping Veterans and their families. It is backed by the American Legion, Department of Indiana. www.indlegion.org

I hope to generate more awareness about veterans burial benefits. These benefits apply to any national cemetery, for veterans and their spouses, who were honorably discharged include:

• Free cemetery space at a national cemetery
• Free burial vault
• Perpetual care – no annual maintenance fee
• Free grave marker

Those who are receiving a VA disability pension or who die in a VA hospital, are entitled to cash benefits. This is anywhere from $300 to $2000, depending on disability.

The U.S. Navy will also scatter ashes from a war ship and conduct a full military honor ceremony. Active military personnel are permitted on board the ship only, however, the Navy will send a video to the family. For those veterans who have given 20 years active duty, they are entitled to a free burial at sea.

Many funeral homes are unaware of this information and they end up directing veterans to private cemeteries.

www.veteransfuneralcare.com features an online guestbook called “Noteworthy Deaths” where veterans and their families can sign and leave notes about their loved ones.

Sincerely,

Jim Rudolph
President
