The proud Shih Tzu
The Shih Tzu is one of the cutest of the toy breed and is quite popular. They were the regal house pets in Imperial China . They are proud, smart, affectionate, loyal, funny. One of the few breeds that is non allergic. I am hoping to share stories, pictures, tips to train and look after this wonderful and funny little dog.

Noisy Holiday
Friday is the 4th of July.....a fun but noisy holiday.
Does anyone have a fearful furkid and how do you help your dog get through the
fireworks?
If not by acting fearful, how does everyone's dog cope with the 4th of July fireworks?
My two tend to bark at the noise, as if it were thunder, or some sort of intruder.
I'm blessed that neither is phobic about all the bang bang!
Oh--and Happy 4th to all!

Hercules
Hi everyone...My Hercules, 11 yr. old Shih Tzu, has been DX with cataracts and his eyes are not constricting properly and therefore needs help on stairs, etc. when going from dark place to bright!!!! My vet thought a visor or sunglasses might be beneficial.....Has anyone else had this happen to their pet? How did you resolve the problem? I have thought of having his "brows" grow out and form its own visor....but his eyes now are running and I was thinking it might be difficult to keep his eyes clean!!! I would appreciate any help!! thank you! Jazzy
Dear Members
Thank you all for being in this group.
I need to let you know for the next while I won't be able to have much time to devote to the group due to the declining health of my Dad as he takes up most of my time now.
Unfortunately Ksilla is facing a problem with her Mom and she won't be able to be on the computer as much as she would like either.
This leaves us in a bit of a bind. So my question to you is this. Can anyone devote a bit of time just chatting and writing a few lines for our group ? Or if each member has some time why don't you just post a topic, make a comment, and keep this group alive.
What might be some other suggestions?
Again thank you so much for being in our group.

Hello to all our members
I have such fun looking at all the pictures supplied by you of our favorite companion The Proud Shiz Tzu.
Once again I must apologize of not doing as much in the group as I intented when I started it.
I have been very busy in the past week in particular as my Dad who is 87 and living in his own home very independently I might add, had broke his right wrist in two places for the simple reason that he was lifting a very heavy and very tall ladder over the fence to the neighbour who wanted to borrow it from him.
So as he was lifting it , he lost his balance and the ladder fell on his hand and wrist. True to form he did not say a word about this until a few days later at which point he stlll wanted to fix it himself, but finally realized that the problem is more severe than he thought.
As I live in Canada our medical system is free for us, but we pay dearly with our time in the waiting rooms. As most appointments to the doctor takes longer than we had, we showed up in Urgent Care (non emergency) at 3pm on tuesday, and we left the hospital wll after 11:30 pm with a fibreglass cast on my Dad's arm.
For someone so independent this accident thru him for a loop as he seemed to aged 20 years in one week. He is right handed so all tasks even the simple ones take real long time. I had been going to his home which is clear accross the city I live in, usually twice the day. Bring with me food , drinks, and company.
This will continue for a while and I am hoping to see back the Dad I know, a small feisty independent stubborn fellow.
Therefore I really don't have much time to spend on this group which I am very sorry for, the time being. I will check in from time to time.
Keep sending in those cute photos, and talk to each other about what is so special about our little companions.
Ksilla, as always thanks for your input.
