Don't Panic!
For those who love the work of Douglas Adams. Be it the myriad articles or his ever popular Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series [in any of its media forms]. Feel free to chime in and add to what may be a decent conversation. Heck, if you just want to throw some sci-fi or fiction info in here, feel free. I'm sure we'll devour it.

Greetings
You all are so much more informed than I have ever been. I simply read The Hitchhiker's Guide and found it to be a magnificent reality check. Not that I dwell in reality much as the masses view it. I even posted a note for myself to remember Towel Day and still totally spaced it. However, I do feel that keeping a good towel close at hand is always a good idea. Not sure what substance to saturate it with so that I can sustain life if need be but I have found it a very handy item to have close by.
My happy day came when I was connecting my new cable service and the tech asked me if I liked the movie or the book better. I've had this e-mail address for 5 years and this was the first person to "get" it. I did have a career advisor strongly suggest that I change my e-mail address on my resume and I refused the suggestion saying, "If they won't hire me because of my address, then I don't want to work for them". She wasn't sure how to respond to that other than to silently carry on with the construction of my resume. Well, there was that look she gave me but I'm used to that. Oh, also on e-Harmony, I had a match recently comment that Douglas Adams was a favorite author. A good place to begin I suppose.
Carry on good folk and happy days to you all,
Dunkeld

Happy or Right
After teaching Arthur Dent about Deep Thought, Slartibartfast muses:
“ I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied.... What does it matter? Science has achieved some wonderful things of course, but I'd far rather be happy than right any day ... [But I am not,] that's where it all falls down of course.
Which would you prefer?

A rose by any other name...
Well, any program, show, book, script that has characters named Slartibartfast and Zaphod Beeblebrox has to be good, right? I just loved the BBC radio program (or is it programme) back when it first played on NPR, then I listened to the audio cassettes, and then I read the book. I love them all. I really just enjoy saying Zaphod Beeblebrox and Slartibartfast. Can't wait until my grandchildren are old enough for me to introduce them to the works of Douglas Adams.
