GodBlessAmerica

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives.
Join us at this peaceful setting as we start a new day
and embark on a new journey for our group. Eons has
found it necessary to remove our old manager for failing
to abide by the rules of eons group.

We look forward to sharing with you gardening ideas, tips,
information and stories. Post away and enjoy.
Please remember this group is not made of managers and
moderators. It is made of members like you and I so lets
get together and enjoy it.

Update

My tomato that is growing in a pot is really doing well. It has produced blossoms, and is growing into a strong healthy plant.

I can't wait to taste those tomatoes!

And none of the neighbor kids can steal them. I put the pot dead center on my front porch. Our dog Tilly barks if a fly goes by, so the neighbor kids don't stand a chance. LOL

Please Help This Novice!

I have two tomato plants this year; one early girl and one beefsteak. As was the case last year, I've noticed that about 3 weeks after the early girl is in the ground, the leaves at the base of the plant start turning a yellowish color with a slightly wilted-looking appearance. It doesn't seem to make an impact on the productivity of the plant, but I don't know what causes it. We've had brief periods of rain just about every day, so I'm sure it isn't for lack of water. Does anyone have any ideas what causes this and/or what I should do about it?

Faux Glory

Faux Morning Glory

Ok - here's what came out of the packet that had blue real morning glories pictured on it. Can anyone tell me what it is? It might be a weed! But then if it has flowers - it's a flower, right???
I sure am loving the camera now that I have the cord and the hang of it!

What's happening in your zone

I'm in zone 4 and we have had a great deal of rain this spring, flooding all of the bigger rivers, and still causing many detours. It is not as bad here as it was in much of the midwest. My gardens were not affected because they are on a hill, but the pounding rain made some soil as hard as rock. Carrots were all but destroyed. Strawberries are great. The 500 daffodils I planted in the orchard/pasture looked great. All in all, the gardens are good and the weather is still only in the 70's so I spend a lot of time in them. The mosquitios have become a problem with all of the rain. I'm still working on my pond/river bed/ waterfall. That project has become more difficult than I planned because I have geese who love to dunk everything in the water and keep it quite foul. Now, I have to make a barrier of rock look natural in that setting. Any ideas?

Upside Down Maters/Taters in a Bucket

Upside down 'maters

Here's the picture you wanted. I looked at your blog on EONS. What a pretty iris! I couldn't believe all the comments you received about the potato in a bucket. Please inform your readers to be sure and put holes in the bottom of the bucket for drainage. (This applies to any container plantings). You will get as many potatoes as the plant will produce. Even when you plant them in the ground, one plant will produce a couple, another plant will produce alot. Potato plants don't care too much for really hot weather. Down here, they are already done. In Kansas, grandpa Mac used to plant his on St. Patricks day.

We have to water the hanging tomatoes about every other day, probably because of the black pot. The contraption they are hanging from is a piece of PVC and 1" pipe. Richard slipped the PVC over a metal fence post, so we can take it down or move it. It normally holds bird feeders in the winter.

Good Morning Happy Gardeners!

Hi Everybody!
It's good to see you here so early Rose and I am so happy that you figured out how to post the graphics. Persistence pays off my friend. I hope that everybody had a great
July 4th and looking forward to a beautiful Sunday. It's supposed to be sunny and hot here in OHIO today. Hubby and I are going out and take pictures at Riverside Fellowship Garden that is here. The landscaping and scenery are awesome and the roses superb.

I hope that everybody has a great day and please take the time to smell your flowers and go hug that big old favorite tree. It's the best feeling and it's good for your spirit too. Many blessings dear garden friends.

Hugs,
Annie

Elephant ears

Took this picture with my daughter in so you can get an idea of the size of the plant.I got them started late this year so they wont be nearly as big as they could be.I have had them get to ten feet tall before.I think they are my favorite plant. Its the one plant its impossible to over water because they will grow in standing water. So far I've only had to water a couple of times this year.
