I finally watched it. It wasn't so bad. It was sort of fun!
Absolutely not Eddie's best film or even a great film but it was still fun. A good movie if you are bored. :-)

I hope everything well for you and the family with old Gustav. Hurry back to the site.

ABC Planning New Series Called "The Return" (SOSF)

Of all the U.S. networks, ABC is the one offering up the least amount of sci-fi fare this fall. Of course, its Emmy award-winning series “Lost” will be returning, as well as the two surprise hits from last season, “Pushing Daisies” and “Eli Stone,” but not much new, as far as good ole’ alien-UFO styled programing, was coming from the alphabet network…until now.

Perhaps seeing the handwriting on the wall, scribes Greg Berlanti and Rene Echevarria have been commissioned by ABC execs to develop a new sci-fi project titled “The Return.”

The series will center on the huge impact the world must face when humandkind finally must face the reality that we are truly not alone in the universe after aliens land on planet Earth, ala “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” With that particular film being remade for theaters, this new television show should be timely.

The series should be in capable hands as Berlanti is behind “Eli Stone” and Echevarria is well seasoned in the genre having served as one of the main writers from the world of “Star Trek,” “The 4400,” “Medium,” “Now and Again” and “Dark Angel.”

Both writers will also act as the series executive producers.

What would happen if a rogue planet flew into our solar system and slammed into the Earth? That question is answered in this classic sci-fi tale. An astronomer discovers an object that has just entered the solar system. His calculations show him it's big and headed straight for the Earth. The only problem is convincing the rest of the world. This top notch sci-fi shows humanity at its best and worst.

A remake, like so many others is in pre-production at this time. Here is what could be found so far:

Another One From ReMake City. . .

. . . Stephen Sommers ("The Mummy") is in negotiations to remake this classic:

The whole article is available on SciFi.com.

How many times can a story be re-told? I hope the Burroughs family or estate kept some of the rights for this book.
I really want to see some more original projects coming out of Hollywood. Come on! Does anybody still write original stories?

New Installment on Ghostbusters?

Columbia Pictures is setting up a new installment of its blockbuster Ghostbusters film franchise, hiring The Office co-executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to write a script, Variety reported.

The intent is to reunite the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, the trade paper reported.

The studio would not comment on the development and has been mum on recent rumors that there was interest in making another installment of the franchise.

The writers just wrote Year One, a comedy that was directed by Ramis. Ramis with Aykroyd wrote the first two Ghostbusters movies.

No deals will be made with the original cast until the script is ready.
