question for everyone
My typo in my last message intro made me think of something: that error was mine, but how many of you have had really embarrassing errors put into your published writing by editors/designers (after your last look at your work) that - of course! - all the readers think was your error?
My worst was a special layout in a magazine where the editor changed "gamboling" to "gambling." I wanted to hide under my bed in mortification thinking how many readers thought I was the one who was that uneducated -

Hello everyone - I just joined the group. I'm a freelancer, been writing fiction and non-fiction, articles and books for 25 years. I'm celebrating a bit today as I've been told my latest book (a specialized market non-fiction) has received a good review in the Library Journal.
Actually I can't figure out why my publisher is so happy - most books that are reviewed get good reviews anymore, it seems to me!

Help with agent
I'm back searching for an agent. The first go-round produced lots of talk but the best offer was laughable. Any thoughts on a good agent to help with a crime/mystery/romance set in Florida would be most appreciated. You can respond by email if you prefer privacy. Thanks in advance. bt
The Way Things Used To Be 20--The Icemen
The most interesting deliverymen to watch were the short, dark, silent men pushing open carts with metal wheels, loaded with three hundred pound cakes of ice. The cakes were a foot wide, a foot high and six feet long and they were covered with quilts and burlap sacks to slow the melting. It took guys the size of Abe Simon, who got knocked out twice in twelve months by Joe Louis, to move them around the ice-houses and load them onto the pushcarts.

My First TV Interview as an Author
I just posted a blog entry about my first flirtation with a TV camera and the nerves that resulted. Please read it at: view link (or go to my page and click on Blog) and, if you like it, BOOM it!

Hi, I'm still a new member
There's my picture in the new member box. I thought I'd been here longer than that.
Still looking for buyers for my extranormal suspense thriller THRIPZ. For $6.99 (plus S&H if you don't buy over $25 worth of stuff from Amazon) you get:
* A hero with a fuzzy sort of paranormal ability to know when something's wrong, but not what, exactly
* The beautiful setting of Honolulu, Hawaii
* A sinister biogeneticist bent on destroying the world for revenge and profit
* A genetically manipulated insect pest born pregnant, hungry, mean, and resistant to pesticides
* Not one but two beautiful women who show pluck and courage in the face of overwhelming danger
* A thrilling chase up a mountain during a tropical storm
* A daring helicopter rescue
* A twist
* A father and son reunion
I'm getting breathless just talking about it.
It's on Amazon.com, ONLY $6.99 for trade paperback, $1.59 for Kindle!
Check out the Video Trailer, please. It's only 99 seconds, and gives a good overview of the story.
See what others have said about the book, plus get most of the above information all in one place at .THRIPZ.com
Thanks for your consideration!

The First Commandment of Writing
I am a writer, therefore I write. And being an emerging published writer, I read. Not just similar authors and genres (which teach me alot), but books on "how to write." Especially books on how to write. And I re-read the best ones over and over to engrave their words into my mind and habits. And one of those many books in my library that I consider among the best is called The Truth That Tells a Lie, A Guide to Writing Fiction by John Dufresne.
In flipping through it's pages this morning in search of a drop of wisdom I might have missed, I came upon one of those powerful statements that I've marked with seven (SEVEN MIND YOU!) stars at some point that struck me today as something I should toss out to this group...that might be just the spark to ignite another writer, or move them forward another step in their journey.
(Continued in first reply)

The Way Things Used To Be 19--The Milkman
Every morning before seven, Sheffield Farms and Borden’s delivered milk and cream door-to-door in horse-drawn carts. The milk came in one quart glass bottles wide at the base, narrow at the neck, with an outer cover you threw away and an inner cover with a pull-up tab that you put back on after you poured a glass.

first novel...
Hello All-
I am a screenwriter and novelist living in Southern California. My first novel, the Historical novel SWEETSMOKE, is available 8/27. I hope you'll have a chance to check it out! More info on my site www.sweetsmokedavidfuller.com - but here is a description:
The year is 1862, and the Civil War is in full flame. Cassius Howard, a slave and carpenter on a tobacco plantation, risks everything – extreme punishment, sale to a cotton plantation, even his life – to learn the truth concerning the murder of a freed black woman, a woman who secretly taught him to read and once saved his life. No one gives a damn about her small, rude, unimportant death in the midst of a brutal and hellish war. No one but Cassius, who braves unimaginable dangers to escape the plantation and avenge her death.
Sweetsmoke is Cassius’s journey into knowledge, knowledge that tests him and very nearly destroys him, ultimately guiding him toward freedom.
