Welcome to Pomeranian Paradise!

We look forward to hearing about your poms. Please share your stories and photos!

Today's photo is of Domino. He is being fostered by Caradocs until the right home is found. He was released to Second Chance Poms in Houston, in September 2007 after a puppy mill in Northeast Texas was shut down. Caradoc's and her companions have taught him to play, he's had some training and is a quick learner.

I may be getting another foster pom.

Just got an e-mail from the rescue group I work with sometime. A breeder in the Wyoming/Nebraska area, has finally started working with local animal control. She moved into town last winter, leaving 150 poms facing the winter with just igloo doghouses. 20 of them froze to death last winter - a number of them died this summer from the heat. She has finally started turning some of the dogs over to animal control. I don't know who the breeder is, or exactly where they are located - just the Wyoming/Nebraska area.

These are feral dogs - little or no contact with people. I've been asked to foster one or maybe two of the feral poms. They will take tlc and a LOT of patience to rehabilitate into adoptable pets.

Don't know how this will play out - they may be looking for more fosters up in the Wyoming/Nebraska area soon. If anyone is interested, send me a private message and I'll keep the names in a separate folder and will let you know when I learn more.

Such a sad situation................

Update on Domino - my foster pom

I got an e-mail from Domino's new person. Domino is doing beautifully - he has adjusted wonderfully to his new home - follows his new person around, gets really excited when she comes home, plays with her and her other dog - a really wonderful match for this dear sweet pom. Domino still isn't comfortable sitting in laps - but maybe in time.

Where is everybody?

Is everyone on vacation? How is everybody and their poms doing?

Cricket is under foot trying to get me to throw her toy. Ladybug is taking a nap a couple feet away. Life is good!

Hard to believe September is only a week away.
Hope to hear from all you soon.

Late Tuesday - I'm back

We had a medical crisis in my family - but all is well now and I'm back.

Tuesday is almost over - bathed 4 of the poms - Danny, Spirit, Little Man and Conner. The rest of the furkids were giving me a very wide berth!! Its their turns tomorrow

First thing in the morning Austin, Gizmo and Cisco are getting baths. Austin gets the first bath because he is my bed buddy - I want to be sure he is completely dry before bedtime tomorrow night!! Don't want to have to share my bed with a damp pomlet!

Latte and Honey will get bathed Friday - when I finish with the poms, my two senior shelties will be next.

New photos of Honey and Latte

I posted some new pictures of Honey and Latte in the photo files. They are almost 3 months old now - that's hard to believe.

The girls are so cute - I have to check everyone's purses and pockets when they come to visit to be sure they aren't trying to sneak the girls out with them when they leave

A click to help homeless animals

This was on the news tonight:

FreeKibble.com

Mimi Ausland, a 12 year old girl from Bend, Oregon, wanted to help feed the hungry dogs at her local animal shelter. "There are 10's of thousands of dogs in animal shelters across the country, all needing to be fed a good meal." Say hello to freekibble.com! And now it's time to feed the cats too!

Freekibble.com's primary mission is to provide good, healthy food to dogs and cats to those shelters who are working so hard to see that none of them go hungry - they need our help. We'll continue to provide free kibble to the Humane Society of Central Oregon and now we're expanding to add more shelters in need of free kibble. Furrytale Farms on Bainbridge Island is next!

Zootoo.com has very generously committed to helping Mimi succeed and is partnering with freekibble.com to donate and distribute the kibble to all the hungry dogs and cats.

We also want to make it easy and fun for you to help provide free kibble by playing the Trivia game - and we hope you learn a few interesting things about dogs and cats along the way. Thanks and enjoy

Update on Domino's new home :-))

Update on Domino's new home :-))
Here's the report I got from Katrina - the girl that adopted Domino - I am so pleased

===============
Hi,

Domino's first night was ok. He was understandibly a bit scared. He is fine now. On Sunday he walked around the house quite a bit but was skittish when anyone approached him. Today though, he lets me go to him and pick him up and he is following me around the house. Also, he will come to me when I call his name.

The two dogs are getting used to each other. Remy is trying to prove that he is the boss of the house. He keeps taking Domino's toys and chew bones. They do run around outside and play with each other. Domino loves the back yard. Anytime I say "outside" he runs to the back door.

Thanks for the recipe. I will definitely try it. Also, thanks fo rthe link to the list. I will keep in touch and let you know of Domino's progress.

Domino's Adoption Application has been approved!

Domino's application has b;een approved.

I talked to Katrina today - the lady that is adopting Domino. I was very impressed with her.

I was very upfront about his history and issues - and that didn't put her off at all - she said just sounds like he needs loving. The only thing that would be a problem would be if he didn't get along with her dog - and he gets along beautifully with everyone here so - keep your fingers crossed. She is coming Saturday afternoon and Domino will go to his new home.
