"Hold on Sweetie..."

Well, this just cracked me up. Last night at a rally in Michigan, Obama was stopped by several reporters and answered a few questions, more or less. A female reporter asked him something that he planned to cover in his speech, and he said, "Hold on Sweetie....." followed by something about how he would address that in the speech.

Ooooops.

Rev. Hagee vs Rev. Wright

I was listening to an interview on NPR by Terry Gross (Fresh Air) with McCain's spiritual advisor Rev. Hagee. His remarks were radical, to say the least. He said:

--Only Christians can get into heaven with the Rapture which will pluck believers bodily into the clouds.

--We must preserve Israel no matter what because of Biblical prophesy. He heads up a group called CUFI
( Christians United for Israel) He said Isareal should never have given back any of the Gaza strip and America should back up Israel always.

--New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katina because a Gay Pride parade was scheduled there for the Monday immediately after the hurricane hit, and the parade was supposed to some wild orgy, so God destroyed it.

--Politics should be driven by the Bible.

Does McCain agree with his spiritual advisor? Can he be a fair president if it has been drummed into him that politics should be driven by the Bible and foreign policy should be driven by Biblical prophecy?

Why was the Reverend Wright such a big issue, yet McCain's pastor is not? What do you think?

Disgraced, failed Jimmy Carter's Second Term

As of today, the chance that the incompetent, do-nothing Dems will continue to control both the House and the Senate is almost 100%.

many predict they will even widen their majority in both houses of Congress after November 2008.

If voters in addition to the above awful prospect, elect a dem for President, whether Hillary or, most likely, Obama, (and it's hard to tell which of the two will be worse for the US economy, ie for all of YOU!)

Then we may have really Jimmy Carter's Second term.

Carter's awful, utterly failed presidency and its disastrous economy makes today's environment seem like paradise.

I would advice everybody to transfer any investments from US to Overseas Mutual funds, BUT

1. The $ is still quite weak, so obviously now is not the time to buy (I have been investing globally since 1992, after I voted for Clinton!)

2. When US stocks drop,. foreign stocks will drop too. When the US sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold. desptie China's rise and all that.

f course, you all have a far better option than Carter II

Vote for John McCain.

POVERTY IN AMERICA

Do you think poverty exists in America? Is it a problem? Do you think those living in poverty will have much trouble figuring out what to do with any money they receive from the government.

What to do with federal incentive checks

The federal government is sending each and every one of us at least a $600
rebate.

If we spend it at Walmart, the money will go to China.

If we spend it on gasoline, the money will go to the Arabs.

If we purchase a computer it will go to Taiwan.

If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras and
Guatemala.

If we purchase a good car, it will go to Japan.

If we purchase software it will go to India, and none of it will help the
American economy.

The only way to keep the money here at home is to buy prostitutes, weed, beer
and tattoos since these are the only products still produced in the USA.

AND NOW ALL THE ANSWERS: What went wrong?

The exclusive story of Hillary's fall, as told by the high-level advisors, staffers, fundraisers, and on-the-ground organizers who lived it.

Michelle Cottle, The New Republic Published: Friday, May 16, 2008

Endings are rarely as joyous as beginnings--and in the case of a long, wearing, and ultimately disappointing campaign, they can be downright brutal. But they also have the potential to be educational, for participants and gawkers alike. So it is that we asked (begged, really) a range of Hillarylanders for their up-close and personal lists of "What Went Wrong?" Not everyone wanted to play. Many stubbornly pointed out that their candidate is not yet dead. But, on the condition of total anonymity, a fairly broad enough cross-section of her staff responded--more than a dozen members all told, from high-level advisors to grunt-level assistants, from money men to on-the-ground organizers.

Obama Admires Bush By DAVID BROOKS, NYTimes

Hezbollah is one of the world’s most radical terrorist organizations. Over the last week or so, it has staged an armed assault on the democratic government of Lebanon. Barack Obama issued a statement in response. He called on “all those who have influence with Hezbollah” to “press them to stand down.” Then he declared, “It’s time to engage in diplomatic efforts to help build a new Lebanese consensus that focuses on electoral reform, an end to the current corrupt patronage system, and the development of the economy that provides for a fair distribution of services, opportunities and employment.”

That sentence has the whiff of what President Bush described yesterday as appeasement. Is Obama naïve enough to think that an extremist ideological organization like Hezbollah can be mollified with a less corrupt patronage system and some electoral reform? Does he really believe that Hezbollah is a normal social welfare agency seeking more government services for its followers? Does Obama believe that even the most intractable enemies can be pacified with diplomacy? What “Lebanese consensus” can Hezbollah possibly be a part of?

If Obama believes all this, he’s not just a Jimmy Carter-style liberal. He’s off in Noam Chomskyland. That didn’t strike me as right, so I spoke with Obama Tuesday to ask him what he meant by all this.

Subsidies for Solar Industry

THALHEIM, Germany — This sad stretch of eastern Germany, with its deserted coal mines and corroded factories, epitomizes post-industrial gloom. It is a place where even the clouds rarely seem to part.

Yet the sun was shining here the other day — and nowhere more brightly than at Q-Cells, a German company that surpassed Sharp last year to become the world’s largest maker of photovoltaic solar cells. Q-Cells is the main tenant among a flowering cluster of solar start-ups here in an area known as Solar Valley.

Thanks to its aggressive push into renewable energies, cloud-wreathed Germany has become an unlikely leader in the race to harness the sun’s energy. It has by far the largest market for photovoltaic systems, which convert sunlight into electricity, with roughly half of the world’s total installations. And it is the third-largest producer of solar cells and modules, after China and Japan.
