Photo Challenges

This is a casual, fun group for everyone who enjoys taking pictures. Every few days, a "challenge" will be posted to take pictures of specific things. We're not looking for professional or "artsy" - just get out there & take pictures!

Welcome to Photo Challenges

Your level of experience or the type of camera you have doesn’t matter here -- the emphasis is on having fun getting out there & taking pictures. We never seem to find enough time for 'fun' stuff, but that's what keeps us healthy, happy, & interested in the world!

What is a photo challenge? A photo challenge is simply taking pictures of specific subjects that are available to everyone. You won’t have to go to a mega-city, jungle, or any other exotic location in order to participate.

The goals of this group are ~
• To get you out of that chair & using your camera!
• Encouraging you to really see your surroundings, whether mundane or majestic
• Stimulating your creativity to keep your brain from rusting solid
• To enjoy the process
• Occasionally learning something

The rules are simple ~
• Courtesy & kindness to fellow members at all times
• Don’t upload anything that isn’t yours
• Don’t copy anything without the courtesy of asking the owner’s permission first!!
• Follow the Eons Community Guidelines.
• Please limit *consecutive* postings to no more than 3 photos at a time.

Check back often, new challenges will be listed frequently. With enough members and good participation, we’ll start voting on the challenges.

*Note: You don’t have to enter a challenge to post – if you have a great capture to share, feel free to post it with a short description so we can all admire it. smile just eyes and mouth

Another great photography group is eagleye’s Enjoying Digital Photography. Not only are there some fantastic pics, it’s also a learning group. Check it out!

A to Z Photo Challenge

We’ll start this one over again with the letter ‘A.’ There’s lots of opportunity for creativity with this challenge! Main subject of your photo should obviously match the next letter. You might have to go back a little bit to make sure you’re on the right letter.

Generally, proper names can’t be used. We want to keep the pictures general, readily identifiable to any viewer as representing a given letter of the alphabet. For example, I wouldn't post a picture of 'Miss Kitty’s Saloon' for the letter 'M' but it would be ok under the letter ‘S’ for ‘saloon.’ I wouldn't post a picture of myself, Patricia, under the letter 'P.'

Please type the letter & include a short description with your entry. While you’re welcome to enter more than once, please no consecutive postings, so everyone has a chance.

This challenge will stay open, unless participation drops smile just eyes and mouth

Challenge 1, July 6 - 12

Challenge 1 starting Sunday/July 6 thru Saturday/July 12 is streets, roads, paths, & trails . Your photo should be a clear & *interesting* representation of the subject.

• Please include a short description with your entry.
• Normal post-processing is ok, but adding ‘effects’ to meet the challenge isn’t allowed.
• You’re welcome to enter a challenge more than once, but please limit *consecutive* postings to no more than 3 photos at a time.
• If for some reason (except laziness!) you can't get out to take fresh photos, you can use archived photos.
NOTE - New rule - Once a photo has been entered in any challenge, it may not be entered in any other challenge: one-time entry per photo, please don’t reuse something we’ve already seen :)

Challenge 2, July 6 - 12

Challenge 2 starting Sunday/July 6 thru Saturday/July 12 is barns, bridges, & walls. Barns & bridges are pretty self-explanatory. Photos of walls should *strongly* emphasize something interesting about that wall, whatever drew your eye & made it worth taking a picture of.

• Please include a short description with your entry.
• Normal post-processing is ok, but adding ‘effects’ to meet the challenge isn’t allowed.
• You’re welcome to enter a challenge more than once, but please limit *consecutive* postings to no more than 3 photos at a time.
• If for some reason (except laziness!) you can't get out to take fresh photos, you can use your archived photos.

*NOTE - New rule - Once a photo is entered in any challenge, it may not be re-used in any other challenge: one-time entry per photo, please don't reuse something we've already seen :)

Scavenger Hunt Challenge!

For the 4th of July holiday this week, we’re trying something new – a Photo Scavenger Hunt, starting Monday/June 30 thru Saturday/July 5.

This game was suggested by c2clistener, & it will be a lot of fun if you’re observant & like to ferret things out. The theme is patriotic, in keeping with the holiday. If participation is good, it can be a regular monthly feature :)

* Please include a short description with your entry.
* While you’re welcome to enter more than once, please limit consecutive postings to no more than 3 photos at a time.
* If for some reason (except laziness!) you can't get out to take fresh photos, you can use archived photos.
*** Please don’t re-use photos you’ve previously entered in other challenges.
