If you don't believe this one, put in your home phone number into
google.com and search....the first result with my home number is my
address! It did not apply to my cell phone
Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this!
It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.
If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious and alarming.
Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the mapquest and directions straight to my house. I did fill out the removal form for myself ,and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary.
Please look up your own number.
In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (http://www.google.com/)
Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. You get a Results page like this view link (Note: Google and other telephone/mapping services often get confusion by coordinate addresses like mine).
If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information,
simply click on your "Phonebook results for 555-555-1212" and then click on the Removal Form. See view link
Shortcut
You should be able to go directly to this Removal form web page view link to find the Removal form without going theu all of the other steps above.
Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone who needs to know this.
Removal takes 48-hours. BUT does NOT remove from other similar companies.

Google posted personal information
Google has posted my address, phone number and map to my house. I posted that information on authorsden.com/ggarrison, thinking it was only for the site's use, but no, it's not. Last week I called the manager and he said to remove it from their site. I did, but it's still on Google. I have tried to contact them but have been unsuccessful.
Yesterday I received a phone call from someone with an accent. He stated that he is a UPS drive rand gave his name as David. He said he would deliver a package within a half hour, but first I should call 187-330-6888 and tell Joe that David called. I knew that something was wrong. He also said something about a presentation. I asked, "What is this presentation about?" He said he couldn't tell me, that it's against the law.
I knew that this person was trouble so I called UPS and told them the story. The man I talked to said they don't have anyone named David delivering packages, and they don't call anyone before delivery.
Then I called the local police and told them the story. They couldn't send someone out to wait for a UPS delivery, but said to call immediately if the caller arrives. I waited and waited, but the "delivery man" did not show up.
I'm thinking that I was being used to cover up a trail of messages for something illegal. That phone number might be to a foreign country. Don't try it!
Today, May 21, 2008, I tried to contact Google to request that they remove my address, map to my home and phone number from their site. I tried everything I could think of to get this message to them, but was unsuccessful. Can you help?
