Hello and welcome to Lo Carb Living. We are a group of people who come here to support each other in our effort to chose a healthier lifestyle through what we eat. The best part is becoming healthier, the bonus is losing unwanted pounds or maintaining a healthy weight that each one of you is comfortable with. Health and Comfort are key words. Not everyone needs or should be a size 2. I remember an old movie, with LanaTurner, where she was joining the WAX. As she was being fitted for a uniform, she has her hands on her hips and says with great pride......"I am a perfect size 12". Can you imagine a skinny Marylin Manroe? How about a skinny Jane Russell, or how about a skinny Sopia Loren. Nope, these were georgous women that were called Bomb Shells, and they were not skinny. But, this is not just for women, this is a lifestyle that can be followed by the entire family.

Loc Carb living is more about life style changes for life, not just to loose weight. This is about being healthy, lowering your risk for cardio vascular disease, type II diebeties, respiratory disease and joint and back pain. It's about walking around the block without being winded, bending over to tie your shoes comfortably. Lo Carb living also includes exercise. Not the kind you see on TV, but the individual exercise each one of you is capable of. This is about living up to your potential and being proud of yourself.

This is not about sudden changes, but a gradual progression to a personal goal. We are all individuals and all our goals are different and should be recognized as a personal best, not a common attainment of becoming a certain size.

For real, forget about losing weight, completely. Focus instead on being healthy, you will be rewarded with not only feeling better, but finding that the weight loss will only follow naturally.

One of my mentors used the phrase "Pearls of Wisdom". I hope to pass on to you these Pearls and look forward to everyone else's Pearls as well. This is a joint venture. "We" are a team, working towards a common goal. Your input is important. We all share here. I am not an expert Nutritionist, I am not a DR. I am like you, trying to wade through all the data that has been presented to us as promises to a "skinny", "flat bellied", robot. We are human beings. Come join us on the journey of healthy living and the freedom to be yourself.

Good Carb, Better Carb

Today while I was at the library I looked for cookbooks on low carb. I found, "Good Carb, Better Carb Cookbook".. It has pictures in it too, which I like.
I'm hoping to get some good ideas from this book.

Low Carb Books

I have many low carb books and cookbooks. As I have said over the years I have combined several things from several different books to form my own individual program. Most low carbers start with Atkins for Life book, so I am going to put up a series of posts that refer to Atkins. Nautrually any other information from any source on Low Carb living is always welcome.

From Prevention Magizine

They have a book called, "Smart Low-Carb Living". They have a very simple and short definition of what Ketosis is.

I have a question

Hubby brought home a box of what says is a natural sugar. Have you ever heard of SweetLeaf Stevia Plus? It says Zero calories, zero carbs, zero glycemic index, zero chemicals. Ingredients: Insulin fiber,(F.O.S.), Stevia (leaf) extract.

A disagreement

In my searching for Atkins web sites I ran across an AOL poll that said this is a good diet for those who love meat and this may not be a good choice for vegetarians. I disagree and I hope that together we can prove that. Although I am not a vegetarian, I have a very personal issue to prove this.
