Update

The steroid shot (one) made the blood rush and break some tiny piece of plaque off...so the cardiac infarction. Heart Fart. I am fine. Mad that the shot did not work on my poor foot. After all that.

I feel like do do.

My feet are really bad the x-ray showed they are both a mess. The Great Toe first joint is deteriorating and with bone spurs. There is the planters fasciitis in both feet and bone spurs on the back. Arthritis in both ankles and feet. I have a old broken metatarsal on the left foot outside edge the 5th one...that is again separating. So I have to stay off them as much as possible. They have me up for a wheelchair consult (it has taken since 2001) to get that far. I scared the poor podiatrist to death.

I am so glad to get home....Hey any diabetics out there??? I need some info. They gave me insulin in the hospital and then sent me home with no meds? They are saying I have to have a 8 on the 3 month test and that I have to have fasting sugar of above 250? I had 198 and 200 and 172 in the hospital? I am shaky after I eat no matter what I eat so.....what is the deal? They sent me all the testing supplies but no meter which they will not send me unless I am on meds?

Oh I have chronic low potassium???? What is that? and they say it envolves your heart!

I just need all your help. My spirit is pretty low. Once they found out I didn't need surgery on my heart they becaom very uninterested.

I know I can count on all you!

The Secret

Apparently a woman has written a book that has sold a trillion copies. It is supposed to tell us about the way to tap into the universe and have incredible wealth and goodies by thinking about them yadda yadda yadda.

Here's an excerpt from a hilarious column about this book. It is a cautionary tale about thinking that we can just order up wealth and health and success by using Middle Eastern or other "secret" ploys.

At this point I should add that The Secret is not only drivel—it's pernicious drivel. The obvious question that arises from its claim that it's easy to get what you want, is: Why do so many people get what they don't want? As Byrne writes, "Imperfect thoughts are the cause of all humanity's ills, including disease, poverty, and unhappiness." Yes, according to The Secret, people don't just randomly end up being massacred, for example. They are in the wrong place because of their own lousy thinking. Cancer patients have long been victims of this school of belief. But The Secret takes it to a new and more repulsive level with its advice not just to blame people for their illness, but to shun them, lest you start being infected by their bummer thoughts, too.

Read the whole column at it's source. It is a great, funny, and wise observation about the book:

Doctors and Diagnostic Errors

Doctors and Diagnostic Errors

The Startling Truth About Doctors and Diagnostic Errors

By Maggie Mahar and Niko Karvounis, Health Beat. Posted June 19, 2008.

Diagnostic errors happen at alarming rates but remain underdiscussed. Doctors' overconfidence is just one reason why.

Despite all of the talk about medical errors and patient safety, almost no one likes to talk about diagnostic errors. Yet doctors misdiagnose patients more often than we would like to think. Sometimes they diagnose patients with illnesses they don't have. Other times, the true condition is missed. All in all, diagnostic errors account for 17 percent of adverse events in hospitals, according to the Harvard Medical Practice Study, a landmark study that looks at medical errors.
