Visiting Pup Went Home
Hi All
Just wanted to let you know that the little toy Chihuahua I was fostering from the animal shelter went home this morning. Her owners finally contacted the shelter I volunteer at and then they came to our house and picked her up. I had misgivings about her going back to them as this little pup we found out was 10 years old, was a family pet, had horrible teeth and probably painful, per the vet I had to take her to yesterday, was only fed table scraps, did not even have a tag with contact information-only the pup's name and was not up to date on her shots. The shelter is only a mile or so from the owners home-why she waited 5 days to contact the shelter is beyond us. We had no choice as the limit of adopting a stray animal with a collar is 7 days. Had she waited another 2 days this little girl would have been adopted to someone who would be taking better care of her. We were sure sad to see her go. Here is a picture of her with my sis, Gitchesmom's, 5 month old kitty YaYa. You can see how little she was - only 3.6 pounds. Oh well, there are so many more animals at the shelter and in our rescue group that needs our love and care so we pray that Cocachala (CoCo) will live out the rest of her old age happily and that her owners will acknowledge that this little pup needs better watch and care.
Hugs to you

Hello All
Hope your day will be a good one. I know this is a feline group and you know I love talking about my two precious kits but I want to share with you what has been going on with me. You know I have said I work with animal rescue and I have been working at the local shelter/pound. Well, on the 2nd the animal control officer picked up a stray pup in the street that had no ID and brought it to the shelter. It is a quit old and seems to have a bit of medical problems and can you believe no one has called to claim it or inquire about it. It is very sweet and is a definite lap pup and sleeps under the covers, likes my cats and they like her, she likes riding in the car, she must have had a good home but for some reason she was out and no one has tried to find her. Well, I had to bring her home yesterday as I could not stand leaving her at the pound/shelter by her little self. She weighs about 2 pounds. She even had a coller on with a name Cocochala and answers to that but no phone #. It is very sad that no one is trying to find her but I have had many strange and sad cases in that perhaps since she is old and is a little unwell and will only eat cooked chicken someone may have decided they do now want to deal with her any longer. We will keep her 7 days and then she will be up for adoption. I would keep her but it is just not right because I am gone 10-12+hours a day and a pup by itself in a house that long is not right. I pray she will find a good home or else her legitimate owners will find her and take her home.
This is a similar picture of what she looks like - please pray that it will all work out well for Cocochala and she will find a home soon.
