WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A man who police say left his elderly, infirm parents in a sweltering car while he drove a bus route for three hours was charged with reckless endangerment Tuesday. His father died, but his mother made it out of the vehicle.

Theodore Pressman left his parents in his black Suzuki in a Peekskill parking lot Monday, as outdoor temperatures reached the mid-80s, police said. The car was in full sun with its windows closed and temperatures inside reached well over 100 degrees, they said.

Peekskill police Detective Sgt. Eric Johansen said police often are alerted to cases of animals or even children left in hot cars, but the case against Pressman was a first for him.

"Roles do reverse in family relationships," he said. "Parents take care of children and then at the end children are supposed to take care of parents."

At an appearance in Peekskill City Court, Pressman, looking frail himself, was held on $10,000 bail and was ordered to stay away from his mother.

The 48-year-old argued with the judge over that condition, saying, "I know what she needs. ... I have to make sure she has food." No lawyer was present for Pressman and no plea was entered.

Johansen said there was no indication that Pressman intended to harm his parents. The three lived together in Beacon, about 15 miles north of Peekskill and 45 miles north of New York City.

Johansen said a check of neighboring police departments showed that Pressman had often left his parents "at restaurants, delis, McDonald's" while he worked as a bus driver. "This was a frequent practice, but as far as we know he had not left them in a car before," he said.

Police said Pressman's 75-year-old mother, Joyce, was able to get out of the car Monday as the heat built up but was unable to help her husband, 85-year-old Joseph Pressman. The woman weighs about 80 pounds, Johansen said.

"It appears they did not have the physical or mental capacity to deal with the situation," he said. He would not detail the couple's infirmities.

When Pressman returned to the car, his mother was outside but disoriented and his father was unresponsive, police said. After Pressman called 911, his father was pronounced dead and his mother was treated for heat exposure at a hospital and released.

Peekskill police Chief Eugene Tumolo said that after an autopsy, Joseph Pressman's death was declared a homicide. More charges against Theodore Pressman could be added later, police said.

Politicians

I have a few minutes, so to answer and this will be the last I speak or defend my choice for President I say this:

Every Politician wants to further him or herself in the game ... that is the game. Every candidate has plus and minuses. We each vote for who we believe in ... who we believe will lead us to a better America ... As we, the voters are not perfect, neither are the candidates ... still the system is better than anything else in the world ... so it's simple vote for your canidate, I'll vote for mine ... America will survive ... it always has!
there is too much hate in the world, let us think positive.
Now back the the grandkids

Peace my friends and hope for a better world.

Why Obama won't get my vote!

Why Obama won't get my vote.

Barack Obama is my District's U.S. Senator. I live in Quincy, IL. the largest community in Adams County. I already know that Senator Obama is only interested in furthering his political career. He has not represented me very well in the U.S. Senate and I personally will not vote for him to become the next President of this nation. People look at me in shock when I say that and ask me why. I've been holding my tongue and just ask them "Why are you voting for Barack Obama, what has he done?" You know, I haven't gotten a decent, respectable answer to that question still to this very day.

I find myself at a point where I do have to speak my mind and ask people some serious questions about their choice of Barack Obama as the man who is supposedly going to "Change" America. Are the voters of these great United States of America that far gone that they will only vote for whoever the "for-profit" corporate owned media promotes as the best of a two party political system? Do the American voters no longer possess the ability to learn about the candidates that will have the greatest influence over their lives for the next four years? Wake Up America!

With all of the resources we as a nation have available to us for reseaching the candidates we elect to public office, can you not spare the time to at least call up on your computer a candidate's publically available voting record? Can you not speak to someone you may know who lives within that public official's area of influence? Can you not hear a candidate's shifting positions throughout the course of their campaign? Or, are you happy with the business as usual between our government and the corporations who basically own the candidates via campaign contributions, Political Action Committee contributions and other such thinly disguised means of buying the influence to subvert the best interests of "We The People"?

Why won't I vote for Senator Obama? Because the only thing he will "Change" is his title and pay rate! The "for-profit" corporate owned media has yet again played with your minds America! The proof of Obama's poor service to his Senatorial District's Constituents exists in public records! His history shows his own self serving political ambitions to become the first black President of these United States. I'm sorry, should I have said half African-American? Believe me when I say it's a "non-issue".

The Honorable (I say sarcastically) Senator Barack Obama repeatedly has chosen to simply not vote on many issues that affect not only the people of Illinois but all "Of The People" of this quickly "falling from greatness" nation. Take a good long hard look at his voting record on his Senatorial web site at view link and judge for yourself.

Here's a very short list of general issues he chose not to vote on, they include:

  • Children's Health Care/Funding Children's Health Care Before "Pork Barrel" Projects

  • Additional Care for Pregnant Women, Mothers and Infants by Eliminating Funding for a "Woodstock Museum"

  • Safety Standards for Children's Products/Reauthorize and Modernize the Consumer Product Safety Commission

  • Numerous and Varying MediCare Issues

  • Communicable Disease Issues Including HIV/AIDS and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)

  • Veterans Medical, Housing, Insurance, and Educational Issues

  • Numerous Native American Health Care Issues/Health Care Choices/Health Care Funding

  • Educational Issues Including Early Childhood, Childhood, and Adult

  • Numerous Constitutional Issues

  • Intelligence and Related Activities

  • Fair Trade and Related Trade Issues

  • Union Issues and Employee Rights Issues

  • Housing Issues and Mortgage Reforms

  • Energy Independence Including New Technologies/Numerous Other Energy Issues

  • Passenger Rail/Transportation Equity Act Issues/Other Transportation Issues

  • Numerous Environmental Issues/Establishing EPA Direction

  • Flood Insurance Reform Measures/Flood Prevention Before "Pork Barrel" Beaches

  • Numerous and Varying Immigration Issues/Border Security

  • Mine Safety

  • Government Spending/Wasteful Government Spending

  • Iraq War/War Funding/Resolution Honoring Those That Are Currently Serving

  • Numerous Tax Issues

  • Terrorism Issues

  • Numerous Agricultural Issues

  • ...And So Many More...

Looking at the list makes you seriously wonder "What has Barack done?" Well, he has voted on issues that he believes will make him look good but the way I see it, even some of those votes weren't put forward in the best interest of "We The People". I feel cheated because Obama has at least a 50% chance of not taking any sort of a stand on any given issue at any given time and that's not what I expected when I voted for him to go to the Senate and represent me and my family. I want a refund for the salary he was paid. This is not the man that you would want for your next President.

Our next President needs to stand up "For The People"! I personally don't want my son serving in an Army with Commander-In-Chief who refuses to acknowledge their sacrafice and sense of "Duty To Country". Nor can I support a man who refuses to "Pledge His Allegiance" and honor our National Anthem. Not to mention the fact that he, along with other members of our legislative branch of government have broken their sworn and solemn vows to "Uphold and Defend the Constitution of the United States" by not pursuing impeachment proceedings against both Bush and Cheney who have both committed the most impeachable offenses in the history of our nation.

Seems that since he has started his pre-meditated Presidential Campaign more than a year and a half ago, he has forgotten about his "day job" which he has only held for the last three years out of the six he was elected to. It's like a restaurant hiring a dishwasher who doesn't actually wash any dishes! He has not only conned the people of Illinois but he continues to try to con the Voting American Public into believing that he is the candidate of "Change". Barack should get an award for having the worst history of "not voting" on the issues, if it isn't the worst it must be fairly close. He should not get rewarded with the Presidency of this nation.

I do have concern for the way he cast his votes when Senator Obama wants to work. Barack does seem to favor the Pharmaceutical Industry with his voting. His voting record in general indicates to me that he is not really interested in serving "We The People", and many of his votes do seem to favor the corporate lobbyist. Maybe that's why he didn't vote on so many issues, perhaps it was because he wasn't told by the corporate lobbyist which way he was to vote on those issues. That sounds mean but what other explaination could there be for not doing his job.

I found it astoundingly interesting that while researching Obama's Senatorial Voting Record, I discovered that he especially doesn't like to vote on the appointments of many Federal Judges. It seems to me that someone who supposedly cares about the plight of the African-American People, he as an "African-American" himself would definately insure that these appointed Federal Judges are willing to Protect the Civil Rights of All Americans and Protect Our Constitution. His record of voting in this area is almost non-existent and actually quite abysmal.

One should also take note that Senator Barack Obama has not submitted any legislation written or co-written by himself. I'm sorry but he has not done the job that I helped send him to Washington to do. Choosing not to vote is not doing the job! My U.S. Senator should not be picking and choosing which issues to vote on based on what is going to make him look good in a bid for the White House. By the way, you did a lousy job at that also Senator Obama, you should have thought more about your voting record because that alone makes you look very bad in my eyes, as one of your constituents. Believe me when I say that the Republicans will literally tear Obama up on his voting record. I believe they will rightfully have cause to ask if "We The People" seriously expect him to do better if he is elected to the highest office in the land?

Here's a couple of other things about his voting record you may want to know. Obama had actually initially voted against federal spending on Katrina and Rita victims who lost their homes before spending money on a non-essential Visitors Center. Me thinks he decided to vote on a later added admendment just to make himself look good to the still displaced Katrina victims, most of those being African-American. He has also voted against increasing the Federal Minimum Wage based on applicable State Mandated Minimum Wages. To top that off, he also voted against your State's Right to determine it's own minimum wage. Good old Barack even saw fit to vote against protecting the family budget from future proposed increases on income tax.

My conclusions about Senator Barack Obama is that he is an impersonator, a pretender, a phoney, a playa',  a poser, a scrub, a liar, a con man, bogus, or any other numerous terms that may apply. He has been groomed by the Democratic Party so that they can win back the Presidency with the promise of a black President who supposedly knows and cares about the plight of everyday U.S. citizens. It's really plain and simple, Barack Obama is a corporate owned puppet who really doesn't give a damn about "We The People" and the proof is on record! "Talk Is Cheap" and Senator Obama has raised enough money in his Campaign's War Chest to buy his talk by the truckload.

Wake Up America! Don't fall for the hype, Barack Obama has done nothing! Don't vote for the lessor of two evils out of fear! Don't vote for the man just because he's half African-American!

If you want to vote for a candidate based on race or gender alone, vote for Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party! Think about it, her candidacy can cover the best of both worlds. She actually faithfully served her constituents for 6 terms as a U.S. Congresswoman and cares about the true issues that affect us as everyday working class citizens! You can find her web site at view link . I myself support Ralph Nader, visit view link , but would have voted for Cynthia if Ralph was not in this contest. Let's not forget that former Senator Bob Barr is also in the running, you can find his web site at view link .

Don't be conned by the "for-profit" corporate media into believing that an independent candidate can't win! The issues are not "black verses white" or "female verses male" the media knows how to distract the American people all to well with such nonsensical issues. The issues are in fact, the mega-corporations and the rich verses the working class families, the poor families, the elderly, the disabled, our Constitution and the American dream. There is a reason that television is often referred to as "The Boob Tube". Don't be a "Boob" and do yourself a favor by turning the TV off!

Many of our our mega-Corporations are responsible for the current state of the economy, they have their hands into every aspect of our lives and need to be controlled. Corporations have seriously hurt our employment prospects by shipping jobs overseas, flooding our markets with cheaply built products, avoided taxation and tariffs, speculated wildly on the future costs of necessary commodities, profited from the wars in both Iraq and Afganistan, denied us universal health care coverage, stifled alternative energy research, destroyed much of our environment, betrayed the American worker by refusing to pay a decent "living wage", and by destroying the worker's right to unionize.

Do the research, vote for what you know is right in your heart, vote for what is right for your families, and return our government to "We The People". Please strongly consider who you are going to vote for in this very important up coming election. Remember the person that we elect to the office of President will have a most profound effect on our lives over the next four years. Is this the time to experiment with the hope that things will actually "Change" for the better with the same two political parties who have gotten us so deep into the problems that are currently facing our nation?

Should we not start a new American Revolution by casting our votes for an independent candidate? One who is not owned by the corporate interests. Should we not vote against the politics and business as usual that corrupts and threatens the very existence or our nation and our Constitution? When will the time be right to "vote the bums out" and replace them with new political party candidates and ideologies? Should we wait until our way of life, our sense as a unified nation, and our rights are all destroyed by the current course that the two major political parties are following? Should we wait until we are all standing in the "Bread Lines" reminiscent of those in the former communist nation of the U.S.S.R.?

Ralph Nader is a shining example of what one man can accomplish and your one vote along with the vote of everybody else who would truly like to "Change" our government can make the difference. Ralph Nader is the right candidate for right now! Mr. Nader has a long established history of standing "Toe to Toe" against both government corruption and corporate abuses. Let's return our government to "We The People" before it's too late and we are all turned into slaves of the corporate masters who are taking over the control of both Democratic and Republican Parties. Let us stop the "Hostile Take Over" of our government and our Constitution by the "Rich Corporate Moguls".

Wake Up America! We as a nation are becoming a third world country, it is happening right now and very quickly!

"Do Something Revolutionary! Vote Independent! Vote Nader/Gonzalez in '08!"

By the way, Thank you Ralph for your work in establishing the "Freedom of Information Act"! Without it concerned citizens like myself may not have been able to research what our political leaders and our government as a whole are doing.

more bad news

You see this kind of thing all the time on the news and you feel like it could never happen "where you live", surely not in our town. Last night around midnight, they found the body of an 8 year old little girl who was missing from earlier in the day. She didn't come in at dusk, like usual, so they started searching for her (she really shouldn't have been roaming around at 8 years old though in this day and time). In her neighborhood the homes were in a little subdivision and the homes were close together, the kids all played together close to home. There were a few abandoned homes nearby, due to the widespread foreclosure problem. She was found in the closet in an empty home a few doors down from her own, raped and strangled to death. Come to find out that her 14 year old neighbor was the one who did it. Now they're trying to decide if he should be treated as an adult. The girl's older brother would love to get hold of him himself, he spoke on the news before we knew it was a neighbor. A friend of the victim had seen the her walking down the street with the 14 yr. old earlier in the evening, and he's admitted to doing it. We've never had anything this horrible around here, it's such a shock.

Well, personally I feel he should be treated as an adult, and his life as he knows it should be over. I just don't think that you can be rehabilitated after such a horrendous crime.
